1995 Searay 5.7 GM winterizing mods..

For the block drain I just use 1/4" hex pipe plugs Merc makes a hose with a drain at the low point -the drain takes one of the blue plastic plugs

High Performance Gear Lube Color - Bravo 3

I would think that means you have some mositure coming in. I use High perf gear lube in my alpha one gen 2 - after 40-50 hours each season ti comes out the same color as it goes in. I also use it in the jet pump on my sea doo instead of buying the 9 oz Sea Doo synthetic gear lube bottle for...

    Pre Alpha Prop?

Unless someone swapped the wrong ratio drive on it, verify the tach first before playing with props. Unless the engine needs work/tune up, the hull is water logged would expect a 17" to pull way more rpm than 3200. What is the mantenace hsitory on the engine- I know you said compression is...

    2004 5.0 MPI Mercruiser

In additon to these I would also look at the ditributor cap- the crab style mpi caps are known failure points

    Air Don't Freeze Winterization

Yep, drain them and i leave the plugs out. Works fine, biggest issue you may see is corrosion on plug threads in cast iron. If you have the newer blue plastic ones this is not an issue

Fluid Changes for Winterizing, Do I Need to?

This thread is an interesting take on an oil thread.… Change it or not doesn't matter to me. Personally I do my oil and drive lube annually and the boats I’ve maintained have lasted 31, 25, and current boat is 17 years and counting. Seems cheap compared to the other work you’ve posted about ...

    4.3 GXI hydraulic steering leak.

Check the return line connections on the power steering cooler, had a neighbors boat exact same symptoms, was a loose hose clamp on one of the two hydraulic line connections to PS cooler...

    1999 bayliner vibration

I would take a look at All Dodges question(post #18) as the way you move the mounts is inverse to what you think. If you had more grease on the alignment witness marks say on the bottom, you actually want to move the mounts up to put the coupler down. Is it possibel you are moving the mounts...

    1999 bayliner vibration

Only if it spun the bearing in the gimbal housing and damaged the aluminum.

    Strange noise Mercruiser 4.3 VIDEO

Take the drive belt off and see if it goes away. This would narrow it down Other thought id the spring loaded balls in the T above the thermostat housing. These restrict the flow of cooling water to the elbows. Maybe they arent opening and water through them makes a noise .

Mercruiser 140 barely running and running rough

Agree with rick and bondo thats the float bowl overflowing, only thing to add is verify the fuel pressure is ok as too much fuel pressure can over come a otherwise ok needle seat and float. Also check condition of float make sure it is not damaged or water logged

    1999 bayliner vibration

Make sure to check the transom for rot while you are in there, otherwise all the other work and elbow grease could be for nothing

Compression test results 4.3L V6 2005 what do You think?

this is good advice, especially if you have to remove the manifold to do he gaskets look for streaks of water or rust isnide it and exhaust ports

Compression test results 4.3L V6 2005 what do You think?

I'll play the other side of the fence. The difference between the stated compression of 150 psi and what you see is the accuracy of the guage ( i know you bought a good one...). There doesnt appear to be evidence of water in the combustion chambers and assume the engine runs well based on your...

    97 four winns motor replacement

As outlined its is likely your 97 is a Vortec ( 8 vertical intake to head bolts) vs the 94 that is a non vertec (12 angled intake to head bolts), the non vortec would make about 35 less hp. It is possible you could swap the TBI over using the non vortec intake , but hard to tell if the fuel...

    1999 bayliner vibration

Port side bolt for mount into transom plate or into stringer? If its the lag into the stringer that isnt a big deal but wouldnt surprise me if you have issues with the rear mounts either sagging or missing parts.

    Trailer or Deflate

The easier you make it to use the more you will use it, which points to a trailer so you can leave it inflated with the engine attched. Otherwise I would put the enigine flat in the back of the bed wrapped in a moving blanket vs on a stand.

    1999 bayliner vibration

In additon to what Rick mentioned check the gimbal bearing is fully seated and turn freely, If it is scoring the shaft it may have not been fully seated or damaged by not pressing on the outer race to seat it, or the alignment is horribly off
