    Trailer Tongue Too Long?

I prefer the trailer axle as far away as possible when backing because it's more controlled... that being said, how adjustable is the trailer? If you could move the boat up further and adjust the axle forward an equal amount that would solve your problem as well I'd think.

    Trailer Towing Capacity

I'm fuzzy on the new rams but what's your limiting tongue weight on the class V? Like 2000lbs or so? You should be way under payload even on a 3/4 ton unless you have a lot of... stuff... in the truck As long as you're loaded to 10% on the tongue I'd say you'd be fine with either.

    Carb tuning

Yes the three step rods were there but short lived. seems like .092/.089 and a 686457 metering rod vs the normal 6857. The reman engines seem to be back to the two step rods and that is what was in my carb. I've done the AFR route on the corvette and usually the plug reads agree with the meter...

    New Stuff on Vehicles likes/dislikes

On the twins for whatever reason it seems to always go on. Our new Denali every time it goes in park it engages too. I haven't found a setting for that yet. Now my garage, about the last vehicle that would fit in there was a 90s Tahoe.... and I don't know that you'd be able to get out once in...

    Carb tuning

Pumps good. I don't have a lean spot just feels like you'd expect a rich engine to behave. Little slow compared to how snappy it was when it was scary lean lol. I started at ricks jetting (first link) and had all the odd surging and what not so I jetted up. Odd that second link is a bit leaner...

    Carb tuning

Good afternoon all. So after the fiasco with the water leak and the "pop" through the intake, which was documented here and finally fixed, ended up just being lean. I finally got around to swapping in the 4 barrel intake and carb. Spent the last couple weeks just running it and now I am at the...

Okay, that makes more sense. Thank you sir. And this discussion had come up on the other forum I'm on a few weeks ago... if the E-brake is set and the battery goes dead and you can't jump it in your garage (get hood open)... you're sol. Which is also dumb. But what are the chances of all that...

    Flat tire on haul-out today . . .

Mine are speed rated 81 I think. That looks about where I'd expect the center of mass to be. More like an 80/20 split but lets face it... boats are a different animal and hard to get tongue weight with. I think you're fine. Could always see where the trailer manufacturer wants the CM.

Well thats what I mean. I have a slightly older 10 speed that has a shifting cable. Did GM just phone in something vs changing the trans or did they update the valve body for shift by wire and get rid of the cable. I don't know. Edit to clarify: the cable is for P/R/N/D selection and nothing else.

Now I'm curious. Is it electronic shift or actuator moving a linkage external on the trans. I was under the sierra and vaguely recall there being some electronic device similar to a transfer case actuator. Not sure on the "allison".

    Flat tire on haul-out today . . .

I would say that's probably about right. I always referenced it to centerline of the axles... in your case the middle axle. (Our work trailers are all double). For simplicity sake, I'd guess you're just ahead of the centerline of the front axle. Being your tongue weight seems in line I'd say its...

Yeah our 22 2500 is normal column shift. The half ton has this janky thing. It works... just wasn't totally intuitive first time I got in. Shifter

    Flat tire on haul-out today . . .

Most commercial trailers have axles further back. I would assume the balance point to be set where it needs to be to maintain an appropriate and reasonable tongue weight. Probably something like 60/40. 60% in front the axles and 40% behind. Seems to always end up being that way when I load the...

    New Stuff on Vehicles likes/dislikes

I have to push a button for park but use a different button to get it out of park while either bumping it forward for reverse or backward for drive. Its just unconventional. I'm used to it but jump between so many vehicles I forget. I grabe it like a normal console shift and it yells at me to...

    New Stuff on Vehicles likes/dislikes

I do hate how we went from either console or column shift to these dial, push button, click but still have to push buttons to go into other shifts that everyone is using now... the shifter in the new Silverado/sierra for example is... annoying. Our work expedition has a stupid dial. The Tahoe...

If you do it at the end of the season you have all winter to address any issues you find. Always fun learning you have water in one of the oils the week you plan to launch.

I think I've had to adjust a cable parking brake once. Based on the number of recalls of electronic parking brakes releasing or engaging when they aren't supposed to... I'll take my chances. I don't even like hill start assist.
