    More speed from 9.9 merc

You mentioned changing props from a 10x7 to a 9.25x9....which means you made it worse. If your only getting 3k rpm, you need less pitch on the prop. However, it sounds like you have other motor issues to address first. Get the motor running properly before swapping props.

1963 Starcraft 18' Holiday replacement windshield

Never use plexiglass, it scratches very easy ! Use polycarbonate ( lexan) far more resistant to scratches. You can even purchase " hardened" polycarbonate that makes it more scratch resistant. If you choose to use any type if plastic over glass, be sure you follow instructions on cleaning it!

    Frogs, Lizards and Wasps

We had a carpenter bee invasion a few years back. Bought a grease needle for a grease gun, stick the needle in the hole and fill with grease. Remove the needle and finished filling the bee hole. Haven't saw a new hole since. That bad summer I had to keep grease in the holes as they kept...

    Recommendation for gps display

Visit your local boating/ fishing store such as bass pro or Cab else's and look at their displays. There people should be able to explain and demonstrate the various units. I have an older (2013) Low dance with a North American card that shows alk the waterways in north America and can be...

new propeller installation and test resoult

Identical boats and motors could run different props, depending on how the boat is loaded, what the boat is used for. Other owners may do a lot of toy pulling or pack their boats with guests, so hard to compare the same prop. Once a prop is chosen for general purpose use, props can be custom...

new propeller installation and test resoult

Once again, does the prop allow your engine to reach max operating rpm with a light load ! Typically a 4 blade prop uses approx 2" less pitch to achieve the max rpm on the motor over a 3 blade prop. Gotta make up for the extra blade. Weight means little, max rpm under wot is the formula needed.

I have a Jeep Cherokee ( 2015) that has a 4400 tow capacity but it does have a factory tow pkg.

new propeller installation and test resoult

Typical running speed has no bearing on what prop you need. The props pitch needs to max the wot rpm of the motor, then it will be the correct match thru out your operating range

new propeller installation and test resoult

All your testing at various speeds mean nothing except cruising information for yourself. The best prop for your engine and a long life expectancy is the one that gets your motor to max rpm with a lite load. Whether you choose a 3 or a 4 blade depends on whether you want or need a better hole...

Keep in mind that 3500# tow cap on your Jeep, includes the extra weight in the tow vehicle, not just what is being towed. Supplies, passengers, coolers etc all should be figured into the tow weight. Perhaps a bigger tow vehicle might be in order to get you into the size boat you really need.

So....which prop will give you 4800-4900 rpm at wot with a light load or you by yourself ? That is the prop you need. Aluminum or SS is your call, how often to you hit bottom and need a prop repair ?

    Trailer guides

Unless you launch and load in a very calm wind and current free ramp, the side guides are a must in my book. As I launch and load by myself, I don't want or need any hassle. Our ramps allow power loading as long as it is done properly, with my setup ( full roller trailer with side guides, self...

    Need different prop for pulling

Interesting reading here, brings back memories if my youth from the late 50's thru mid 60's. I learned to ski on a 14' tinnie with an 18 up outboard and got up with no problem as did my 150# brother. Dad could pull two of us behind his 16' Lyman and 35 hp outboard. I read about today's V-8...

    kicker location

On my setup, I tilt the main motor up to create less drag with the prop out and just the skag in the water, you won't turn on a dime but plenty of steering for trolling. If tighter steering is needed just lower the main motor.

    boat foam?

Power trim and tilt is great when trying to get max performance from your boat and motor, but the after market stuff ain't cheap ! So...how bad do you want to get the absolute most out of your outfit ? How much HP are you dealing with? For the cost, you might consider trading motors for one...

Mercruiser 165 6cyl inline dies when boat is in the water

According to the mfgr, all adjustments from fuel mixture , idle speed etc should be made while in water, in gear and underway at idle. Recommended idle speed is 600-650 rpm. You need good spark to reach these rpms. With a weak spark, it will stall out.
