    thermo to me means thermostat., (which open and closes to allow water flow) not sure what you are calling a thermo, that has switches or other things tied to them

    maybe this motor has a fuel cooler that is not getting proper water flow. have you checked to make sure your tell tail is doing well when this is happening?

    did you check with a timing light to see if timing or spark was a problem before replacing the CDI? could be a bad connection into or out of the CDI was the problem, hard to tell unless testing things completely as manual calls out

    I have read of making oil due to fuel getting into the oil running at low RPM /trolling speeds for extended hours and the motor not running hot enough to cook it out, but I never heard of making oil with water condensation. I am sure corrosion can eat thru many places to let water into the oil...

    best and easy way is to pull the kill switch lanyard to stop spark while doing the compression testing. it grounds out the spark voltage so it cannot build up and jump in places it could do harm like inside the coils or other places
