    Welcome Was the drive full of gear lube when you pulled the top cap? If not that would be the reason Look into SEI drives, and I would suggest a full new one. Complete drive is just under $2K. Just need to know which gear ratio https://www.sterndrive.cc/Alpha-One-Gen-II.html

    Ok thanks That screw wasn't installed after the head light bracket was put together, the head light needs to be removed to get to it.

    Oh the 3.7, ok Similar things happen Saying drain the power steering cooler and heat exchanger. Also says to remove HE end caps to make sure all water is out and clean tubes as necessary

    Being a 165 it was used from 1970 to 1981, did you mean to say 1978? The 165 closed cooling has 2 plugs on the exhaust, could be 3 plugs in total if there is a riser block between the exhaust manifold and elbow. Next pull drain plug on bottom of heat exchanger. Remove plug on power steering...

    Guys I know what wheel chocks are, my 2x4 comment was Brake pedals inside the cab to seat which will keep the brakes applied
