    Agree on the slight bit of work to bring it back a bit of wood bleach (oxalic acid) will bring the wood looking good too. a good (cheap as hell) source of oxalic acid is sno-bowl toilet bowl cleaner from the dollar store.

    you did disconnect the drive end for testing the cable, correct?
