Where are the rear motor mounts on a mercruiser 120?

Not a leap just spit balling. If you can support the end of the engine you can remove the front mount and pull the cover off, but I am not sure if you can re-isntall with out dropping the oil pan.

Where are the rear motor mounts on a mercruiser 120?

Outside of Philly myself Did u measure the lift on the valves ? Wonder if u have a flat cam lobe. I know y tightened rockers but wonder if you are getting full lift ? 3.0 uses timing gears might have wear and backlash ? Could probably check by taking cap of dist and move crank back and forth...

Where are the rear motor mounts on a mercruiser 120?

Doesnt sound like a rod or main knock to me. Might loosen up the belt and run it with out the accessories and water pump turning. Sounds more top end to me, hard to diagnose from keyboard but I wouldn't be tearing it out just yet.

    Budget Boat Covers

I got one out of Overton's years back that held up pretty well for the cost of the cover ($250-300). It worked out perfectly for what I had which was a 20+ year old boat that I didn't want to spend big $ on a custom cover

Well it happened. Water in oil

Flapper is possible, but I had mine basically roached for years when I changed it and never got water back in. Would test the manifold with acetone to see if it leaks, or was that included in the pressure test? Is it getting up to temp? Might be condensation if the thermostat is stuck open...

Mercuiser 357 mag low compression on #6 (120 psi)

No problem running it for now. I think you want to look into a leakdown test given your numbers

    Chattering in out drive

I was surprised how inexpensive the OEM gearsets are for your drive - Like $125 depending on ratio. I thought gear were more expensive than that

Where are the rear motor mounts on a mercruiser 120?

Use two long extensions on a 1/2" drive breaker bar.. You can get the engine out quick but if you have a rod or main bearing knock just replacing the bearing isn't going to do you any good with out having it remachined. Need to check the journals for size and resize as needed. Did you rule...

Mercruiser 6.2 cracked engine block from cold

In Latvia SBC parts aren't laying around like they are over here... Yes he can swap out entire bobtails if he likes. Unless he gets complete engines piecing all the parts together you will spend as much as a long block

Where are the rear motor mounts on a mercruiser 120?

Rear mounts are on the flywheel cover two larger bolts hold it to the transom plate. Be careful the older ones use a spring and washer under thr mount , dont loose them when you take it out. measure the hoist you are using with a boat on a trailer you have to get the engine way up t9 clear the...

    Exhaust bellows ripped

Absolutely no issue , exhaust is open at propeller hub so exhaust cavity is full of water at rest. Merc makes an exhaust tube that is connected on one end only. This was first done for bigger engines to lower back pressure but a lot of people use them because they are a heck of a lot easier to...

Reman 383 Stroker - Low compression in rear Stbd cylinder

hard to say not seeing it apart. May have been a bad rebuild. I guess had they done a compression test after install you would know. Possible you have a bad injector and cylinder is running lean? What does plug look like in that cylinder. looking at your photos you have dry exhaust which i have...

    Exhaust bellows ripped

Would also think these were sitting on the shelf before you got them or they got nicked installing them with the bellows expander tool. no issue using it with torn exhaust bellows as the exhaust is full of water at rest anyways.

Reman 383 Stroker - Low compression in rear Stbd cylinder

Would put compressed air into low cylinder and determine if low compression is out the valves, crankcase ,or into the cooling jacket. if you have blowby the rings into crankcase the whole engine needs to come out. If its through the valves probably just the head. would look in exhaust and see...

Heat Exchanger blocked: recommendations how to flush or unclog?

the 470 and the rest of the engines in its 3.7 L family produced from 1976 thru 1989 would have been paired with MC1, R, MR, and alpha gen one drives. All use pretty much the same water pump, probably why they were prone to overheat

does this prop seem "reasonable" for this combination?

I would think a 17 or 19 would work with that application. Quite possible a 17 works well Especially if its a fiber glass boat ( heavier than aluminum). If i recall my neighbors growing up had a 17” on their startcraft bowrider that had a 120. You could have the pitch verified by taking it to...
