    looks like the old surge brake head has vertical bolts thru the trailer tongue. remove them, remove the big old box of old surge brake stuff remove the coupler. toss both in the garbage and cheeze off your garbage man then replace with a good current surge brake head.

    if you have disc brakes actuated by the surge head, a blue wire going to the reverse lock-out solenoid is used and you have a 5-wire plug. trailer wiring colors are standard.

    you are going from an obsolete motor with a mercruiser to an obsolete motor with a volvo that you have to redo your transom to fit? find a 1996 or newer mercruiser 4.3 with a A1G2 drive or a 1996 or newer Volvo with the SX drive. dont keep looking at old obsolete stuff.

    who did the reman? Enginetech pistons are ok. however its not worth dumping more money on a stock build.

    and even the later LS and LT motors. the GM chevy bolt pattern will also bolt up Big Blocks, in-line 4's and 6's, etc.

    as far as value. that was covered above I have a 59 vintage gale that has sentimental value. so that will become wall-art. the two early 50's Mercs (Mark 7 and Mark 20) were sold for about 200 for the pair after having listed for almost a year.

    I would stick with aluminum. Edelbrock 2519 is the dual alloy (bronze water passages) like the OEM Volvo/Ilmor intakes. flywheel is same for 305/350 after 1986

    are you running a heat exchanger, or just raw water cooling. if raw water, do you want cast iron? or dual alloy aluminum? 2-barrel or 4-barrel? there is no HP limit on boats with I/O's, only on boats with outboards

    only if you convert to fuel injection. the block and heads dont have a clue if its a carb or EFI up stream. the vortec cylinder heads just require a different intake than the earlier SBC's since you have to buy two new intakes anyway as yours were in salt and most likely rusted beyond use.

    why? that just adds restriction. the fuel water separator filter is a full filter.
