    Second fuel tank

I run a 94 gallon Main and a 54 gallon Reserve tank. One tanks has ~15 feet of fuel line (3/8") to motor the other has ~25 feet of fuel line. Both have no problems working off an OEM outboard fuel pump. Have a selector switch at the helm to select which tank to read on fuel gauge and a 3-way...

Surge brakes lasted 1200 miles of highway, whats wrong

Like Bruce58... never had an performance issue either. I could see not be particularly keen with rusting backing pads on a full stainless steel setup, but I'm running Dacromet rotors and KodaGuard calipers. A bit of rust on the pads is the least of my worries Had issue with the brake pads...

    1989 Sea Ray CC moulding

These guys supplied the rub rails and moldings for my boat. Worth a look https://www.barbourmarine.com/docs/Barbour-catalog-2015-WEB.compressed.pdf

Surge brakes not working. Where to start

You need a blocking solenoid on drum brakes unless they are free backing. You use a by-pass solenoid for disc brakes

Surge brakes not working. Where to start

The only thing I can add is if the brakes are working correctly, slamming on the brakes isn’t going to do much because the Trailer and truck are decelerating at same rate. I would expect the pads to clear the rust off the disks. Suggest going to ceramic brakes pads to reduce wear

Surge brakes not working. Where to start

Never heard of such a thing Nothing electrical about surge brakes except the bypass valve to back up. Has no affect going forward What make and model coupler do you have/

Where can I find this connector?

Same supplier, not the same part. The one on Amazon is one of those cheap plastic housing with the stamped out pins. Decent ones use crimp pins

Issue with Electronics resetting when starting boat

I’m running a two battery setup with ACR and a Off/On/Both switch. Primary (critical) circuit is wired to ACC post on switch with in-line breaker. Covers ignition, nav lighting, primary navigation devices, trim tabs, NMEA network, etc. Secondary fuse panel is wired direct to house battery...

Lowrance HDS and Yamaha 6YC troubles

K Seems like a decent manual. What information are you looking for? I suspect your NMEA network isn’t functional. Have you confirmed the network is powered and operational? Confirmed all the sensors are powered and communicating?

Lowrance HDS and Yamaha 6YC troubles

https://cdn.yamaha-motor.eu/owner-manuals/Outboard%20Engines/6YC-2819U-70.pdf Here is the manual. Doesn’t support trim tabs, speed, etc. w/o external (NMEA 2000) feedback. Also requires a NMEA 2000 back bone. Perhaps never installed or removed by PO

    Weather

The jet doesn’t bring us snow. Serves as a boundary between warm and cold air for us Any weather (snow) coming from the west gets knocked down by the mountains. Most, if not all of our snow originates in the Gulf States then moves north and east (offshore) where it collides with the warm...

    Weather

Tucked in between the Atlantic and the Appalachian Mountains with the jet stream overhead in the winter, we have always been subjected to wild weather swings in the winter. Getting a 60 to 70 degree day in the winter is fairly common. 68 yesterday…woke up with 1” of snow on the ground this...

Issue with Electronics resetting when starting boat

Power to the fuse box is coming off a 50 amp breaker on the motor and broken out on Pin 6 of the the main engine harness connector. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/865506/Maxum-2400-Sc3.html?page=44 The power for my primary instrumentation runs directly from the ACC terminal on the battery...

Issue with Electronics resetting when starting boat

I = v/r. Current is directly proportional to the voltage and inversely proportional to the resistance. If tying the two batteries together doesn’t reduce the voltage drop, demand is exceeding supply. Dirty battery terminals, bad batter(ies), bad starter solenoid, bad starter....... typical...

Issue with Electronics resetting when starting boat

Powering sensitive electronics off/through the ignition circuit is just asking for problems. Power drops, noise, surges, etc. My ignition powers nothing but the ignition switch. Everything else is either powered directly from the house battery or in the case of the components connected to the...
