Raw water at carb at higher RPM

So you are filling your crankcase with raw water? i cant see pulling this in from the exhaust, it would fill a cylinder and hydro lock. You would have to have both a leak from raw water side into af side of heat exchanger, and leak from cooling jacket into crank case…

    Cleaning Manifolds & Risers

As long as there is enough meat to mill them down to a good flat sealing surface should be ok. Pic on the right looks like itnhas a chunk out of the sealing surface may require a lot of milling to remove

    Ford 289 intake manifold

I have the same thing on my '65 GTO some of the holes for the carb studs go into the manifold runners. Have absolutely no issue I just put some put some teflon paste , same idea as the perfect seal mentioned . Don't over think it...

Air don't freeze... RV antifreeze DOES!

This thread is starting to make me look forward to the next oil thread.... Must be winter and were all bored ....

    Corrosion on drive

At this point I'd take the miles and the warranty coverage. Unfortunate but at least some companies still stand behind their products

    Cleaning Manifolds & Risers

before you get too far into it have you scrapped the gaskets off and looked at the mating surfaces? If they are eroded such that you can file flat and get a good seal the corrosion elsewhere is irrelevant

Air don't freeze... RV antifreeze DOES!

Its is rated for burst protection not staying liquid. All of these will gel, then solidify depending on temp, they just don't expand enough to burst pipes At rated temp.

Intake port cc question for 5.7l sbc

Yeah i would think the smaller volume intake port would better match a stock ish marine build.

Ski Brendella is it worth it?

I actually thought of buying something similar as an inexpensive ski boat. If for personal use yes. If you think you are going to flip it and get paid probably not. The upholstery if you have to pay for it is a killer. The carpet in the first pic looks newer it may have been re-decked and...

    Corrosion on drive

Definitely more of a corrosion risk with dual SS props. Anybody who has a Bravo III has likely experienced this, but VP DP drives seem to fair better. Even on my alpha one gen two, since switching to a big SS Revolution four prop I get more corrosion and anode wear than with a smaller SS...

    Ford block id

Cant tell you the casting number meaning but long block or short block means is it with heads or with out. if you get a new long block that means engine block with rotating assembly and cylinder heads installed. short block is just the block with installed rotating assembly. both these terms...

Mercruiser 3.7 (470) wont turn all the way

I would think that means the lifter for that valve may have been stuck in the bore. Not sure if it it is an interference engine or not

Mercruiser 3.7 (470) wont turn all the way

I would start it up and see 90 is normally a dead cylinder, and the 115 is pretty low too... Hard to say if rings will get freed up or if there is corrosion of valve faces or seats that prevent a proper seal. Bottom line as long as it turns freely start it up and see.

    Propeller assistance

I would consider a four blade. Like you i used to run a 17” three blade black max prop for skiing. Swapped in a 4 blade 16” michigan vortex ade a big difference in hole shot and pulling up slalom skiers with an under powered 3.0/135 hp/18 ft boat. Ultimately is it as good as a bigger engine...

    2001 Mariah Diablo 180 ?

Looks fairly well cared for and price seems reasonable, actually cheap if you believe NADA. Issues I would be concerned with is transom and stringer rot, condition of bellows, impeller, and fuel system. I'm assuming someone redid the upholstery or it sat under cover unused. Mechanically would...

Right side idle relief water outlet port blocked

If it is running at ok temp and that side doesn't get overly hot ye I think you are ok. Normally you don see even flow out of both idle relief ports anyways. You may be able to see in side if you pull the drive and exhaust bellows. Biggest concern I would have is if you get a shutter logged...

    454 Lifter Adjustment

Yes a lot of V8's like this had non adjustable valvetrain. It generally works fine as long as you don't change deck height or mil heads significantly , of the valves stem and spring is at the factory installed height; otherwise you have to change to adjustable valvetrain or use a non stock...

    454 Lifter Adjustment

As scott said your valvetrain is not adjustable bigger issue is why the pushrod got bent. it ooks liek there is corrosion on the rocker and bolt .

5.7 ltr whining / Humming noise

Check gimbal bearing And u joints . While doing that run it with drive off , my guess would be gimbal bearing or upper drive gear or bearing noise.
