    94 Johnson 115 wet plugs

I Know about the 2%, but had never heard of 2.6 oz/gal. Likely cause we used to mix gas and oil in 10 or 20 gal(imp) lots

New Starter turns on when battery is connected

Sounds more like a Hot wire touching the Solenoid Terminal, or a shorted Key Switch, supplying Power when not needed/wanted. Burned out a Starter in 77 on the far side of the lake, when the switch went postal. There was smoke when the Starter got hot

    94 Johnson 115 wet plugs

Welcome to iboats 2.6 mix per gallon? 50:1 is the Ratio, after Break In. A lot of engine makers would use 24:1 for the first 10 hrs. In the VRO engines, the first 10 hrs were using a 50:1 in the tank.\ Edit: 2.6 ounces per gallon. First time I heard 50:1 stated that way

    4.3 Carb v 4.3MPI

Vapour lock is having the Fuel vapourize in the Fuel Line prior to the Pump, Diaphragm Pumps cannot move a Gas as Gases are Compressible, while a Liquid isn't. If the Fuel is vaporizing in the Line After the Pump due to Heat, when the Inlet valve in the Carb opens the, fuel bowl is overwhemed by...

2020 Glastron GT185 only 43 MPH top speed

MC 4.5L 200/A 14 1/2 x 19 AL 48-51mph 77-82kmph Page 13 If Glastron is giving a range of 48 - 51 mph, with a 19 inch prop. I will assume the 48mph is at 4400 rpm and the 51 is at 4800 rpm. So something is not adding up. What is the gear Ratio on your outdrive?

    In dash GPS speedo?

I was just pointing out that GPS is not the Godsend when it comes to speedometers. On land, Going up/down inclines will provide inaccurate readings, usually in numbers lower than the actual speed, so GPS will be less accurate than the Cop's Doppler Radar, used to give you a Ticket

    Ventelation cures

A 16 footer is naturally going to be far more sensitive to Trim than a 22ft barge. At the speeds a 16 ft can attain with a 40hp, you won't be able to do much trimming out without Porpoising, and/or the Prop grabbing Air A cupped prop may help, but usually at higher speeds. Do you know what...

Can I bypass the solenoid yellow wire in 79 Evinrude outboard?

Primer Pump? The only Primer Pump that Engine has is in the Fuel Line, and it is usually silent.

2020 Glastron GT185 only 43 MPH top speed

Welcome to iboats I would expect about 45- 46 out of that combo, so you're not too far off. I doubt the Rev Limiter is set at the top of the recommended WOT Range which is 4400 - 4800. They usually don't kick in until a few hundred rpm above it. Are you trimming the outdrive out for best speed...

    4.3 Carb v 4.3MPI

Vapour Lock occurs in the Fuel Line, upstream of a Fuel Pump. Things like Percolation, which can sometimes give Symptoms that are similar, but are caused by heated fuel overloading a Carb when the Inlet Valve opens after a Hot Soak.

    Modern Engine Thoughts

As I really don't like 4 Strokes, I would rebuild the 2 Stroke Evinrude. Lighter, Faster Acceleration, and better Mosquito Control, and a lot fewer parts to break

    In dash GPS speedo?

Be Aware that the GPS will be giving you a Ground Speed, not a Water Speed. If there is a Current, you will find the boat going faster in one direction, and slower in the opposite.
