    Mercruiser Pre-Alpha (MC1) Broken Beyond Repair... Options/Recommendations?

It might be worth posting some pictures of the damage you need to fix on your gimbal housing becuase if that is damaged your engine needs to come out either way to replace the gimbal housing. An alpha one gen one will bolt up and work on your existing transom assembly if it is in good...

    Mercruiser Pre-Alpha (MC1) Broken Beyond Repair... Options/Recommendations?

Pretty sure except for possible driveshaft (into coupler) length difference any later R/MR/ Alpha gen one will bolt up. you can get a used drive or look at the aftermarket SEI 106 drives. Says it fits 1972 -1990 which should cover your mc1

    Bayliner 175 Rehab

For internal engine parts for the rebuild do not buy them from mercruiser or any marine place, best to find a local machine shop or engine rebuild shop as they are standard GM industrial engine parts. if you find you need to replace the engine due to freeze damage etc Michigan Motorz is a often...

Are you getting full ignition advance . Assuming you have a mechanical advance, verify with timing light you are getting 28 or more degrees total advance by 2800-3000 rpm. Not sure of the specs for your engine but that is a rough ballpark

mercrusier 350 MAG MPI coupler problem

If the alignment is correct the coupler will last the lifetime of the boat. If this is the third coupler there is an issue that needs to be fixed either transom engine mount of stringers are damaged, someone is hitting stuff or running over anchor lines, or alignment is off. Were these OEM...

Brown dust on exhaust and spark plug look

Plugs look good to me jetting is correct in my opinion. The stain by idle relief ports may be more from the water salts etc drying on . youmay try using something to remove water deposits and lime residue from sinks etc see if it comes off

Alpha 1 Gen 2 Weak Link

Alphas get a lot of shade thrown their way but the reality is they work great for its intended purpose smaller (less than 23 ft) boats less than 300 hp. Light, easy to maitain, and inepxensive comparatively to replace- perfect for typical bowrider marker. Take care of them and they will...

88 sea ray with 3.0 mercruiser.

If your idle passages are clogged then there is no fuel going to it. Any hangin up linkage will not help needs to move freely as a closed choke will eventually foul the plugs and kill the engine. What does your fuel filter look like. Most of these issues are from boats sitting and getting...

    Boat lift options?

Nice work. I think you probably have way more battery capacity than needed. I converted my R&G vertical aluminum lift to dc power by taking iff the hand crank and using a 12 vdc winch like offroaders put on their front bumper. Use a group 31 deep cycle battery and 7 watt solar charger. Use the...
