    That should work.---Assemble it clean and dry.----On occasion I have seen some folks use grease on the tapers.-----I assume the thinking is that it will make it easier to pull off.-----Totally wrong thinking !

    Sorry mate-----The crankshaft fits on the taper.-----When you tighten the nut the flywheel is pushed down and " stretches " over the crank taper.-----The 2 are now locked together.----The locking fit drives the flywheel.----The key only lines it up for proper timing.----Yes that is the way it...

    Stop.----The shift rod has to be set to a specific length.-----So you need to remove lower unit again to adjust / set that.---ASk for dimension if you can not find it..-------Does the fitting for the tell tale hose come off the side of the engine ?----Or off the top of the block per a 1994...

    The model # shown makes it a 1968 model.----The electric shift models left the factory with the 10 mp generator.-----That generator was optional for the big twin model.

    There were issues with them.-----Many were converted with a kit with a conventional belt driven alternator.

    The second picture appears to show where it should be.----But folks have been known to leave them out.----Agreed it needs a new impeller after sitting all these years.

    So it sounds like the previous owner had issues.----Then put that horn in the control box out of service.-----Do the compression test before spending any more beer tokens on the motor.-----The cylinder head needs to come off to replace the diverters..---Just 10 bolts using a 1/2" socket I think.

    The shift switch cuts spark to 3 cylinders during the shifting.---So remove spark plugs.------So put control in forward.---Turn key on.----Crank motor over.----Do you have spark ( 3/8" gap ) on all leads ?

    Sorry , I do not know what " super weak spark " is.----I do not know what " fat spark " is either.----Use a proper test device.----Does spark jump a gap of 3/8" on all leads ----What size gap can it jump on each lead ?

    Have to ask.-----The high speed jet ( orifice plug ) is clean ?---An item found screwed into the bottom of the float bowl.

    Water from the tell tale does not go through the block.---So it is always cool.----Water goes through the thermostats last.----There are 4 ( 2 per side ) water diverters in the water jackets.---Perhaps these are out of place and blocking water flow.-----Water does NOT go through these...
