    When you operate the fuel primer valve , fuel is put into the engine intake.-----This fuel bypasses the metering circuits in the carburetors.----This suggest to me that you need to revisit carburetor work !

    I do not see the comet sticker so it is a 9.8 I think.----Has the typical corrosion damage on wires.-----Install a new impeller before you use this motor.

    A 9.8 HP from 1980 / 1981 is my bestest guess.----Is there a sticker that says ---COMET----on the block ?---Comet was a 7.5 HP model.----Or measure intake ports.----The 7.5 were smaller diameter compared to the 9.8 models.----Your location ?-----Or should be easy to find on E-bay.

    Don’t do this please.

    I guess there are lots of folks who look up the towing capacity in the manuals.-----But the manuals do not say when the vehicle is 12 years old ( perhaps run near salty roads ) that towing capacity changes.-----What was say 9000 lbs is now 4000 lbs.----Just my opinion.

    A boat like this is often owned by someone who does NOT have a fuel budget.-----Could have lots of hours on it.---Lots of hrs on Lake Erie ??-----These engines are easy to rebuild.---Parts are everywhere.-----That is my opinion.-----The issue is finding a local shop to do this if you need that...

    I think it is a great set-up with the 2 Evinrude V-4 engines.----But we all know that these engines suffer from broken rings when the hrs add up.-----Compression test results should be taken for future reference.----Post the numbers here.

    I believe the 2 yellows go to a rectifier to charge the battery with 12 volts DC.----Normally those yellows show less than 1 ohm.

    Most vehicles do not need ---" full throttle "----to run at highway speeds.-----Look at videos of haulover inlet boats.-----50' boats with 4 outboards.----That is full throttle stuff.

    You did put a new impeller in the water pump I hope.----First thing that needs to be done on a ---" new to you outfit "-----Stern drive or outboard motors should get a new impeller about every 5 years at the least.
