    Prop talk?

no idea. what drive ratio, what does your boat weight, and all the other questions that you must answer in the prop forum. for best results, you should have a Mod move this to the prop forum. (just report your thread, and the mods will move it)

Idles great / misses when throttled up

if this is accurate, you need to pull the motor and do a complete rebuild on it. the motor may run and it may idle, however it will not have any power did you over-tighten the rocker adjusting nuts? the ignition troubleshooting guide is in the stickies (adults only) at the top of the link

    Deck cleat question

PVC has no strength, and PB will not stick to it. so even if the PVC was screwed to your boat, and the cleat is screwed into PVC, the first time you tug on the cleat, its going overboard with a section of your PVC trim and what ever it was you tied onto it. cleats on a boat normally go thru...

    E85 in Chrysler outboard?

2-strokes do not do well with E85 or any high alcohol fuel without a really expensive fuel system and a lot of tuning if you want to save the environment with an old 2-stroke, either buy a really really good 2-stroke oil to reduce sludge build up in your exhaust (unburnt fuel and oil), or go...

Having trouble finding points to elec conversion kit. 91 3.0 mercruiser.

are you sure its play, or the mechanical weights moving. rotational movement is required for the mechanical advance to work. side to side movement is the bushings. if your distributor shaft has side to side play, you must go to NAPA and buy the two distributor bushings. bottom one is about...

    Should I buy-2002 Sea Ray 240 Sundancer

First, Welcome aboard second, the Mechanic is lying as he wants to sell the boat third, if its just the tiller arm fix, pull the drive, the kit is fairly cheap and do it yourself as far as the corrosion, most likely the boat sat in the water a long time. and that was salt water. if the...

Mystery issues with Volvo Penta since I/O service

guessing the drive hasnt been coming off for its annual maintenance with that stated, using the tilt rams and a block of wood and the 1" gap you have you should be able to force the drive off the housing taking the gimbal bearing with it in about 20 minutes. those two tilt rams at full...

    Mercruiser 5.7 won’t make power

use a dial indicator on the cam lobes, a degree wheel on the crank and the cam card to see if your cam is installed at 0 degrees now that you have the intake off. if you have a wiped out cam lobe, it will look like someone went at it with a grinder

    Are Impellers Unique?

same with I/O's impellers do not "suck" water and can not draw water up hill. they can only push water, and are required to be submerged to prime and start pumping, and either remain submerged, or the pickup on the lower unit is designed that as the boat gets faster and comes out of the water...

    Mercruiser 5.7 won’t make power

Put a dial indicator on the rockers, make sure all the intakes move the same, and all the exhaust move the same. You will need to crank to have oil pressure to keep the lifters pumped This you can check without pulling the intake

Trailer bearings wear out ultra quickly.

your axle seal area where the sleeve rides on should be larger in diameter than the bearing surface. most trailers have about a 1-3/4" diameter seal, a 1-3/8" inner bearing and a 1-1/16" outer bearing

    1986 Omc Sterndrive no spark

with points you must file a new set gap the new set verify dwell with a meter on the new set and set timing on the new set. as points wear, the dwell and timing change. as you simply replaced the points, your dwell and timing will have changed and unless you took the boat for a sea trial and...

Motor has power, won’t turn over

never do this to a GM motor. you will strip the crank bolt threads out before you turn the motor over. always turn from the crank keyway by either removing the harmonic damper and using a crank socket, or by turning from the front pulley bolts or by using the flywheel teeth.
