    Those motors say Johnson on the cowling.-------But they are rebadged , SUZUKI built.-----Best to get the correct controls.-----Or fabricate the stuff.

    You likely need 4 new O/S pistons and rings.------No point putting new rings on old pistons.------With a manual and some wrenching ability you can do this.-----Start by pulling that head off for inspection.-----I like pictures.-----Maybe it just needs new head gasket.

    Pull the left side head off.-----I think you have broken piston rings.-----Every one of the v-4 crossflow motors will suffer from that sickness.

    Stator

    I would some wee coils many years ago.---Eddy current probes they were.------Magnet wire was 003" diameter.-----So the bigger wire for a stator coil would not be hard to do.------Count the number of turns as you take it off.

    How high is the transom ?-----It could be that motor and transom height are not matched properly.-----I say motor may be mounted 1" tooo high.

    Welding of aluminum castings often distorts them.-----Not something you can detect.-----Any pictures of the crack / damage?

    Use boiling water on the piston.-----Use plastic end of screwdriver to ---tap, tap ,tap on the rings.-----That often gets them loose.-----Use broken end of rings to clean grooves.-----Boiling water also makes it easier to remove / install wrist pins.

    Propshaft has to be turned when you shift on a work stand.-----Or motor must be running to shift properly.----Simple as that.

    Need a little help 150 evinrude intruder lower unit

    Reverse does not do a lot of work.----It is almost always fine.-----Remove nut on bottom of driveshaft and remove driveshaft.----Then push shift rod all the way down and remove it.----Then pull out propshaft.

    Towing more than capacity?

    It sounds to me that the bowl goes empty.----Those motor typically then rev up before they stop.----Easy to solve this I think.

    Clean out the entire cooling system.----From water intake screens right to all the water jackets and covers.----Will run like new again.

    I can not see or hear your motor.-----But the motor speeding up tells me it is running out of fuel.-----In my opinion this is an easy fix.-----Could also be a bad reed valve causing low crankcase compression.-----The + crankcase PRESSURE pulse drives the fuel pump.

    When the carburetor bowl is near empty an outboard will rev up.----Test run with another hose and tank.-----Some cheap plastic tanks have issues with pick up tube inside the tank.

    Towing down the street to the launch or a 100 miles at highway speeds ?-----How steep is the launch ramp ?

    I believe it is running out of fuel.----So check your fuel line o-rings in the fittings.-----Step #1 in trouble shooting is always the same.----Post your compression test numbers.----

    1986 90 hp Mercury inline 6

    Those may have used that separate tank ----AKA ---Autoblend----And that unit should be thrown away as far as you can.-----The inline 6 was marketed as a 90 for quite a few years !!
