    The clutch dog is spring loaded and yes as it moves to reverse you have to put more effort into compressing the spring.-----And the propshaft must be turned when you shift to reverse !

    It appears ( by paint colors / markings ) that the axle is not original to the trailer.-----You might want to look into a bigger axle/ wheels / tires.

    In a test bucket the water must be 6" to 8" above the impeller.------Hard for those simple pumps used from 1974 to 2007 not the work.----They are that good and reliable !

    It wont fit the original fittings on the motor or your tank..-----But I can not see your motor or your fuel tank.-----If this motor is " new to you " then a full inspection needs to be done before spending any beer tokens.----You won't need that hose if say , compression is not correct !!

    4Cyl 2Strk lower cylinder won’t fire. Has spark but low compression.

    The charging system and battery may have nothing to do with making spark on these motors.
