It is said to be a 1998 model.-----They did not market the 3 cylinder 35 HP in 1988 !!!-----They generally do not have an overheat warning light.----Some models have a warning light for low oil level in the " less than reliable " oil mixer unit.
Do a complete evaluation of this motor before spending your beer tokens.------On those models 9 out of 10 have needed a new water pump impeller.----At least on my work bench.----Compression test first !
Model # of your motor ?-------Temperature light ?-----Is the " mickey mouse " oil mixer still in service ?-----Or running at 50:1 mix ?-----Do a compression test first !
Correct.-----These 28 HP " specials " were 30 HP models marketed to clear surplus lower units / midsections.-----So any of those 1989 to 1996 will work.-----Changing a long lower unit to fit on a short midsection is easy.----Your location ?
The Johnson / Evinrude 9.9 / 15 HP models are really well built.------They are in demand.-----Many folks now realize how good they are.------But sadly many are now junk because folks ruin them by not knowing how to operate fine machinery.
They come out in the direction to where the carburetor was.-----I have seen videos where folks tried to take them out the other way.----Fun to watch for me.
Most controls have a function to open the throttle without shifting first.----We do not know what style control you have.----Picture needed.-----Quick start advances the timing when motor is cold.-----Does your motor's idle slow down as motor warms up ?
