    The easiest repair / solution is to replace ( make one ) the diaphragm in the original pump !!------Nothing to it.----These pumps all work the same way !-----Only thing that can go wrong is the diaphragm.----Just using 2 screws to mount it works fine as well.

    Most outboard motors never get a chance to wear out.-----They are destroyed by folks who just do not know about operation and maintenance of them.-----A compression test is your first step.-----Throttle open when doing this test.

    Remove lower unit first.----That would eliminate driveshaft jammed into crankshaft with rust.

    Charge the battery ??------Starter needs to sin up fast to make pinion rise.

    Another factor is that older motors ( 2 strokes ) are lighter and easier to maintain.-----Many folks are realizing this.----Older motors often have cheaper parts.----Older motor can be fixed without $100 / hr dealer support !!!----There is a high demand for simplicity when it comes to small motors.

    I would not pay that price unless I was sure to get a pair of newer coils and a good lower unit.-----I get nicer ones for next to nothing !

    I think this project is a waste of time.-----But a good learning experience can be had.

    Special tools are shop " time savers " and not always needed.----Many folks look carefully at the location of a seal.-----Use a correct size socket and push the new seal in.-----Making sure it is square and at the correct depth.

    Stop-----12 volts from the battery is not used to make spark for the plugs.---Mistakes with hot wiring can be expensive.----A factory manual is what is needed here.-

    I do not believe that the 67 Mercury models used stainless shafts.------I think there are a lot more 1967 OMC products still out there working just fine.

    You post pictures 4 or 5 of the starboard side of motor.-----Then folks might be able to coach you on what to get.
