    The people who own these things are in a different snack bracket.------No need to worry about a few coins for these motors.-------If one fails just add / replace it and move on.-----Perhaps adapted what they already had from their stern drive design----ZUES----drive comes to mind.

    The----f----makes it a fuel injected motor.-------Fuel goes into the combustion chamber ( like a 4 stroke ) and the crank and bearings would not get oil !!!!

    Hone the cylinders.-----Check ring gap.------If around 0.010" / 0.012" the assemble.-----Forget about any lapping of the rings !

    The motor can not be made to run on 50:1 mix !!!----Need to accept that fact.

    On that motor the throttle plates must be closed at idle.-----Repeat CLOSED.-----Idle speed is controlled by the timing.----Need to accept the facts.

    All I can say from here is that something is wrong.-----Revisit your work.-----Should be simple to figure out.

    Do you have 2 terminals with " M " on them?-----Black / yellow stripe is part of the stop circuit.------So get the correct wiring diagram.-----Mistakes ( smoke ) will be expensive.

    Put control in neutral.-----Put lower unit in neutral.-----Assemble.

    The motor is 65 + years old.-----I would think they used varnish / laquer when they made coils in those days.----Pull the flywheel and inspect.

    Can you tighten a bolt ( 1-4-20 ) in that hole now , yes or no ?----If you could tighten a bolt ( 80 inch lbs ) in that hole now I would not worry one bit about water circulation !-----Just fill it with JB weld and be done with it.-----

    If that was the only block in my workshop I would use an endmill to open that up.----Weld in an aluminum plug.----Drill and tap for the original 1/4-20 hole.-------Or I would simply replace the block from any number of parts motors.

    Agreed they were top of the line for a while.----People bought them because that was available at the time.----But today the computers and robots make these modern 4 strokes.-----Great running new motors.----- So complicated with miniature parts that they can't be fixed at home.

    Go back to post # 5------A novice sometimes needs to clean the carburetor 3 or 4 times before it is really clean.----Easy to miss some of the small passage ways.

    ???----When pulling the knob out the choke flapper is CLOSED for cold starting.-----Why do you say---" opening choke for too long " ---here ?
