    Uppercase on 235 stringer locked up..

    if the shims are too loose, the bearings spin and the gear box eats itself. if the shims are too tight, the bearings seize and the gearbox eats itself. the folks at TC Marine (www.sterndrive.info) still sell parts. they may have a rebuild service.

    flywheels are aligned to the crank by two methods a locating pin a bolt pattern that is not symetrical so, unless you drilled holes to make the bolts fit, your good to go

    should not need to change the harness if you just change the carb. the harness is not that difficult. the wires are color coded to tell you what they connect to. see the electrical forum for the ABYC color coding
