    Well-----RPH -----Clearly indicates that the powerhead has been replaced.-----Factory REBUILT POWER HEAD-----Hence the RPH.------Second picture shows a " casting number " that identifies the part it is on.-----Most parts have a 6 digit casting number.

    Possibly ran without oil. What to check?

    There is a little item screwed into the carburetor bowls.-----High speed jet.-----( called orifice plug on the parts manual ) that item must be clean.-----Did you have it out for cleaning ?----It is way inside behind the drain plug.

    Normal.-----You mix oil with the gas.----The oil has to go somewhere.-----Some oil / fuel mix goes right through the motor and is wasted.----I have often said that concept of 2 strokes and lubrication is not well understood..

    If this is an E-TECH motor then the computer ( ECU ) injects oil into the engine ( NOT into the gasoline ) as it sees fit.----Based on sensor inputs such as RPM and throttle position.

    If you understand motors , know how to maintain them then an older motor is an option.-----They often have reliable simple components that do not need dealer ( 100/hr ) support with NLA parts now common on 20 year old machines.
