    Looks like a place where you would hit rocks about 5 minutes away from the docks.-----Chart or electronic navigation in your budget ?----I have driven on the 101 / 129 on the way to WAWA.

    Just 7 trips of 15 km or 105 km to get everything moved to camp.-----Take the first day of your week and the last 1/2 day ( beer cans will be empty ) to finish the week ----And all weather permitting.------Where / when is this adventure taking place ?

    Does not look nearly as sturdy as my Troy Built 8 HP.----I have one of the real ones , cast iron Kohler engine.------Cast iron everything and solid. ----Built before a new owner ?? started using the name.

    If you made 4 trips then 3.5 X 30 km would make it 105 km to get everything moved to camp..----You will need a big gas tank or at least 3 tanks of 22 liter each.----I think you need a bigger boat and perhaps a motor that does not sputter at idle.

    With 4 hefty adults and 500 LBS of gear the boat won't plane out.-----Forget about making a 35 km trip.-----Make sure you have a new impeller in the motor.-----Make sure you use a lower pitch prop to suit the heavy loads.-----I think you need a 25 HP motor or a 35 HP motor on a 16 / 18' boat.

    Why do they make 12 point sockets and wrenches?

    Many fasteners made with high tensile steel ( 180,000 PSI ) are in fact using 12 point heads.-----Since the early 1960's Johnson / Evinrude connecting rod bolts.--Many newer Mercury connecting rods are also 12 point heads.--Some Honda outboard flywheel bolts are also 12 point heads.

    Remove lower unit incase that is seized up.----If it is still stuck then motor needs to come apart for inspection.-

    There are no carburetors on an E-TEC motor.

    There may be a way to fit an older steel ring gear onto these new cast iron style flywheels.----Will get you the end result you seek.

    Remove the plate behind carburetor.------Look at piston / rod / crank bearing / reed valve.-----I think it would be a mistake to buy parts for this " motor "

    Cast iron.----I do not believe welding is the best option.

    You mis-understand.-----Sparkplugs are not used when testing the condition of the magneto.-----Do you see spark on the plugs , yes ?----Do you see spark when magneto is forced to produce maximum output ?----Do you see spark jumping a gap of 1/4" on some testing device ?

    The stator charges the battery.----The stator is not involved in making spark on this machine.

    Test for spark with the distributor assembled and flywheel on.

    I would bet you saw spark on the plugs.----Not a good test.----Does spark jump a gap of 1/4" or more ?
