    Bravo Gear Ratio - 5.7L vs 7.4L

Here are the standard ratios They probably will work but may need to change props depending. May even be the same ratio, might just pull them both and crank them over for counting

Port&Starboard lights YES, stern Light NO

Need to check for 12V on both sides of the center poles of the switch. My guess is its there because the Nav lights work. Then flip switch to anchor and check that you still have power for the anchor light. The anchor light jumper is on the bottom left to top right - green dots

Pre 1979 battery ignition inline , how does it kill the ignition

Howdy Jdeanie It appears you have another thread going on here which is basically asking the same questions. Did notice in this other thread you said it had a distributer and therefore would be a 1978, but here your saying its a 1979...

timing not advancing, unique issue, ideas please

With timing at 10 BTDC means you have the TB-V module. The TB-V module provides 10 to 15 degrees (depends on module) of timing advance from base timing, and IMO your module is working correctly. Base timing mode does not eliminate the knock sensor, it keeps the motor at zero advance during the...

    1995 454 gen 5 - piston replacement

You could probably go to a junk yard and find a piston. IMO you need to bore the motor, look at the difference in piston gap, it appears (to me) the bore has dished out on the bottom. There is a difference side to side. maybe it's just the pic

    My first experience with hydrolock

There is a slave solenoid on top the motor. It has four wires on it, you want to jump across the two large terminals on top. Once lumped the starter should engage and crank the motor.

    72 Thunderbird Formula w/twin 165hp Mercs

Not sure, been looking around but, this might be one of those Homer Simpson Doh moments. I think you should find a shorter belt and run it from the water pump pulley to the ALT, don't go around the crankshaft.

    1994 7.4L Bravo Gen V temperature

The water hose connection is on the transom assembly where the hose connects to it. They can clog and get pretty messed up, but it doesn't happen so much in fresh water. It is tight back there but here is one which was pretty messed up. Wonder if it could be circulating pump, don't know

    Fuse Panel

Each manufacture makes their panels different, only place to find this kind of info is at the manufacture. Most manufactures don't have it either for older models. Here is a basic example, and any many cases this is better then you will find at the manufacture

Starter is on the lower right side at the back of the motor, under the exhaust. The 90 amp fuse is attached to the starter, and in this pic is the small square thing hanging to the right of the starter and hose

Force 125 not running after fresh rebuild - low compression

I'm a novice outboard guy but a pretty good motor guy. The 2-stroke ring gap should be no more then the 4-stroke gap. Unless I'm seeing things (and please forgive if I am) I see your rings showing on the outside of the pistons. Your pistons should be just a few thousands less then the bore...

Marine electrical code vs residential grade

I do believe plastic is better but you should be able to use metal so long as the boxes are grounded, at least that has always been my assumption. My Formula used solid copper wire from the Gen and breaker panel for the 120V side. The main feed from the 30amp shore power is stranded coming in...

Ah the good and bad about VP, good motors, good design, but not many knowledgeable to discuss problems with, and documentation is limited. According to the manual at Boatinfo the MFI Tester 3851324-8. Have searched and no one appears to know how to get one. My only thought is with everythin...
