    You could start with doing ( learn perhaps ) some trouble shooting.-----Or try a new stator.----If you are wrong you will have a $300 spare part on hand.

    Kill switch wires should be connected to STOP the motor.-----If those are connected together there will be no spark.-----Wiring can be confusing I say.

    ???----Post #1 clearly shows the shift interlock pieces are missing !!!----Likely removed because motor was not running properly.----People do that as a last resort to keep a motor from going to the " fix it shop " and getting a diagnosis.

    You put grease on the cradle.----Slide propshaft in.----Drop shifter fork into cradle.----Done in just minutes.

    Pinion and forward usually come as a matched set.-----Note-----This work is not the same as installing new sparkplugs in a motor !!

    Grease fittings are in plain view on the port side of the swivel bracket.----Found them on several midsections.

    Agreed.-----At one time I corrected some sellers with motors listed as 10 or more years newer then they were.-------Amazing replies and I do not do it anymore.

    4HPs produced from '69-'76: Cooling -- Plugs -- Tuning

    Use a timing light to check the timing as it is now.----From 1964 on these can run at 50:1 mix.
