    The buzzer has 12v switched power to it. Grounding the wire (or closing the switch on the sensor) completes the circuit. I assume you did theses tests with the ignition on... For the gauge, make sure you're getting 12v to the gauge (purple), and then trace 12v along the sender wire to the sender.

    Came here to say that. Iridium plugs in these engines would only be for maintenance/longevity. Nothing in my boat lasts long before being changed for one reason or another, or "while I'm in there". So copper is fine for me.

    If running a hotter stat and plugs gave you the equivalent of 50 hp, I'd be the first one in line at the parts counter. Switch plugs back first, see if it changes, switch T-stat next, see if it changes...

    Keep in mind that your 1968 power train is just as obsolete as anything omc branded. Unless you're experienced with *marine* mechanics, and have had boats before, this probably isn't a great first boat. Your picture looks like a bigfoot sighting btw, impossible to tell anything from it.

    If it's the Y-pipe you'll get water in the boat when running on muffs. If it's the transom seal/bellows/trim wire it will only leak in the water.

    The problem is that even at 1/2 tank, the area where the sender is located (aft section of the tank) is completely full. The tank empties as much fore-->aft as it does top-->bottom, since it's always angled towards the stern.

    You can swap wires and see if the problem follows the wire. Carb rebuild is pretty easy. Even if you've never done it, shouldn't take more than a couple of hours.

    Like I said, agree that the immediate issue isn't the flashes (though it may mean the engine isn't performing as well as it could). But how do you explain the tach?
