Mercrusier 350 MAG MPI - RPM issue under a load

Don't know about this particular system, but usually the pcm can tell that the MAP is disconnected and will default to a stock fuel map based on other inputs (tps and rpm for example)

    help with iffy gas?

I love ethanol in my gas tank and my belly. Very versatile.

Boat swamped, let's see if we can get it running...

Thought the boat was running well... Today finally had enough confidence to do a WOT run. A touch choppy, not ideal, but only managed 41 mph/4500 rpm. No obvious running issues. Gonna check timing (really hoping it's off... But I don't think it is), then compression. Was hitting 48+ in the...

    Crank, no spark. Need advice.

What? No! You tap the w/g wire to ground when it's disconnected from the sensor.

Mercrusier 350 MAG MPI - RPM issue under a load

Replacing things without testing them doesn't tell you that the system is working. Did you check the wiring and the output of each sensor before / after replacement? The diacom makes it easy to see if the sensors are actually sensing... I think it's pointless for you to keep throwing parts at it...

Mercrusier 350 MAG MPI - RPM issue under a load

ECT = Engine Coolant temp PCM = Powertrain Control Module = ECM + ECU in this context

Mercrusier 350 MAG MPI - RPM issue under a load

My mistake on the TPS. Has OP checked fuel pressure?

Mercrusier 350 MAG MPI - RPM issue under a load

MAP sensor when warm, ECT sensor has effect until it warms up. PCM probably takes RPM into account as well, I don't think there's a TPS sensor on there; if so that would have an effect as well.

Won't go in park or reverse. Stuck in forward position

Right idea, wrong details As Bondo said, control needs to be in fwd, shift shaft straight ahead and prop locked CCW. Also, if you split the drive then you could have screwed something up there as well when putting it back together.

    No start situation

Have you changed cap and rotor? Try running a plug directly off of the coil tower and see if you're getting a nice blue spark from there...

Ran amazing then shake no thrust

We're trying to figure out what's wrong... AD wants you to disconnect the cable so that we can concentrate on one at a time. If you disconnect the cable at the carb, the core of the cable should move freely when you move the throttle at the helm. Back at the carb, the throttle blades need to...

Ran amazing then shake no thrust

Maybe not Not sure which carb you have. Secondaries won't open unless there's air flow. Primaries may have a lock out that prevent them from opening all the way if the choke is closed. So manually open the choke (or let it open with the ignition on) and then open the throttle.

    4.3lx intake manifold question

Do you have a zoomed out shot so we can see it vs. the original?

Ran amazing then shake no thrust

And not sure how adept with a carb you are, but you're looking at the throttle blades and not the choke, right?

Ran amazing then shake no thrust

That's where I was going. Enough to get back to dock, hopefully enough to not overheat the engine severely, but continuing to drive and then no start... Op, did the revs increase but the boat didn't go faster, it did the revs stay low when you hit the throttle?

    Need advice from experienced people.

Yes, and it will also put you on a path to replacing your engine. Your blowby compression test also means nothing... Nice a avatar!
