    Here's from my scoping tool: walls look great.. without splitting the case, and given the year, would you throw the chips on tired rings? same compression on both cyl's.

    Merc 115 stalls. Fuel gauge reads empty, but is full.

    I am not an expert here or know your system, but usually an indication of 'empty' when you have the fuel in it, is a failed tank sender or connection issue. Fuel gauge reads whats in the tank and has no bearing on the line connected. Very strange that normal operation once the hose was replaced.
