Prop Shaft "mid bearing" part number help

I bought the prop separate. I have it all apart so I cannot tell the direction. I never took notice of it in the past and I could have a reverse rotating and never knew it. Strangely, like I said in my post I reversed the shift cables at the binnacle and operates like a right hand rotating...

Prop Shaft "mid bearing" part number help

You know, when I first hooked up the controls and was just running the boat on the trailer (fixing cooling issues) it did operate backwards when I dropped it into drive. I was at the ramp with the boat strapped down. I first thought that it was the cabling arrangement so I switched them at the...

Prop Shaft "mid bearing" part number help

I saw the bearing listed on the left hand drive list and it started making sense. Yes, the label does in fact say F225TURC on my engine, and my prop turns like the right hand drive should. My drive sat longer than I wanted and didn't have oil in it. The seals were tired and some moisture got...

Prop Shaft "mid bearing" part number help

I was rebuilding my 2004 Yamaha 225 (F225 TURC) gearcase and there is a bearing and the larger bearing/race that I am not seeing on the parts breakdown. I have the correct year/model and it is not showing that shaft mid rig that the smaller bearing and large bearing/race ride on in the...

Yamaha 70hp 2007 Clutch Dog assembly help

Agree on the spring. It gave me much better in and out with the dog and that was it and added grease as well.. Not sure why it was pressed in the first place.. The cam and gear-- Yes, upon install it will be moved a bit, but it usually drops in place. I am not sure if the current shape and...

Yamaha 70hp 2007 Clutch Dog assembly help

I actually used small ignition wrench, screw, and socket and created a clamp to compress it and had enough room to just allow the star washer to ride up. I used a pick/hook and had worked it back up. I appreciate the tip..

Yamaha 70hp 2007 Clutch Dog assembly help

Also, that cam that shift rod splines into, I am assuming that the "F" is forward? Shouldn't the more rounded side go in? Don't want to assume.. Again, manual is not clear, nor provided pics.

Yamaha 70hp 2007 Clutch Dog assembly help

I appreciate you replying with some advice. Yeah, I've tried to search for a re-assemble vids last night but of course they are all for other motors with the large push follower and larger springs. It was very difficult to engage the dog and that was why I took it apart to see what's going...

2007 Yamaha 70hp, (FMHA 70 TLR) I have shifting issues and discovered that my shift cam flipped upon install, or was upside down. I am stuck on the assembly on this clutch dog, spring, and everything pictured. Can anyone provide me a little help with this, or a guide for install if you're...

    Prop Shaft Removal Trouble

I guess i stand corrected. I did not realize that it came out that way. Most of the Yamahas just pulled out by hand along with the forward gear. Well, I don't have that puller..

    Prop Shaft Removal Trouble

I do understand that and think that everyone is assuming that I can access the pinion. I can not.. if you look at the second pic, you will see a shiny thrust ring that is covering a shim, and the first gear (forward). That ring will not come out. Both gears are holding on to the pinion. A...

    Prop Shaft Removal Trouble

That's my problem. In one of the pics you see the thrust plate/waster on the outside covering that foward gear. I can't get behind that plate to take it out, or see the pinion nut to even access it. I'm trying to understand if that plate should be coming out on it's own or if it's fused/stuck...

    Prop Shaft Removal Trouble

Good afternoon, 06 Yamaha, 70hp, 70TLR (prior numbers/letters ripped off sticker) I am having difficulties removing a prop shaft. The water pump base plate had corroded so bad that it broke apart and the base is level with the lower unit surface so it has to come out. I typically pull the...

    Not so welcome anymore....

Well said. I really enjoy helping people in distress and the instant grat. info-grab is a real thing. I'm a culinary arts teacher in a Vo-tech school and have seen this escalate just after Covid hit. It was starting to get bad before, but it got cranked up and parents are just as bad.
