    Winter cover

Well they finally got the winter cover on my boat yesterday. I went today to have a look and they didn't even brush the snow off the deck. He said it will melt and run off, not to worry. I contracted this company to do it in early September.....but because the owner had a bout of vertigo...

    Which car is better

We have decided to buy our youngest daughter a used car. She works shifts and dealing with taking a bus and child care issues is taking a toll on our granddaughter. Having to get up and go home by bus after her mom's shift that ends at 11pm and then it's 1 1/2 hour at best on the bus. She lives...

    Carpal Tunnel

Has anyone on here experienced Carpal Tunnel release surgery that was out of the normal? I had it done yesterday and the doctor said it normally takes less than 10 minutes. Then after about 15 minutes and needing more local anesthetic injected, he said this is not normal at all.......don't get...

    Toronto Maple Leafs

I can't believe how bad this hockey team can be. They were next to last at the end of last year, then made lots of changes, this year they jumped out and won their first four games, and now they're back to being crappy.....eleven games without a win......11 !!! I've followed them since we...

    Osama's condo

I had these pictures sent to me by a friend. He wasn't 100% sure of the authenticity of them, but said they originated from a guy he knows if the Canadian Armed Forces. If anyone here knows whether they're real or fake I'd really like to know, because from looking at them via Photoshop they dont...

    Gas to diesel

This is something I have had on my mind for awhile. How difficult, or even possible, would it be to change out my twin 4.3 Mercs with Mercruiser out drives, to twin diesels? How would I go about starting the process? What would be comparable diesel engines.

    Santego Flybridge seats

I can't seem to get the bench seat from the bridge in my 1990 27 Santego to come free. I've found 2 bolts in the top of the aft cabin, but still the seat is as though it is still bolted down. Any idea why it is still secure, or is there another bolt which I can't find? Thanks

    1988 Larson parting out maybe

I have a 1988 Larson 250 Delta Cruiser and I'm having a real tough time selling it for anywhere near it's worth so I'm considering parting it out. Is this something that is done? I've got so many new parts that I hate to give the boat away for the offers I'm getting. I was told today that the...

    State of Boating

I was just reading the posts on 180shabah's post about a Sad, Sad Day and it brought me to wondering.......because of the economic down turn, what have you gone through and are you seeing a light at the end of the tunnel? I'm hoping this doesn't get booted because it could appear to be...

    Dirty Propane

I have just purchased a Magma BBQ and the instructions refer to a separate regulator to be used for a 20lb tank and a 1 lb tank. When I asked the salesman at the store, West Marine, he knew nothing of this and in fact doesn't have the regulator mentioned in stock, nor could he find it listed in...

Carver hits waves hard on plane

I have a Carver Santego 27' and when it's up on plane if a boat comes opposite me and throws out a fair size wake, when I go over the first one, the boats comes down hard on the next one. I've tried to change direction etc, but it seems to be consistent. Even in rough water it will do the same...

    1000 Islands

Is anybody interested in meeting for lunch sometime over the Labour Day weekend in the 1000 Islands? Not a huge get together, but it'd be nice to meet new boaters.

    Barbeque Brand

I've just thrown out my second BBQ this year. Both are West Marine and both did the same thing, they started to burn trough the regulator fitting. This last one burned at such a high rate, we had to turn off the propane supply. Fortunately it was on the large 20lb tank. If it was on the small...

    How not to dock

At our marina when a boat comes in everybody moves to help with the docking. On Sunday one of our supposed experienced boaters was coming back from his weekend tour. The boat is new to him and it is a fairly high sided boat (30' Carver) with a flybridge, so you know it will catch any wind...

    Raw water shower

I have a Carver with a washdown connection on the bow and a shower at the stern. They both take the water supply from the onboard tank. I am thinking about trying to convert them so I have a choice. The only seacock I have, is used for the head and it's midship and somewhat accessible. Would it...

Too long to get on plane

I was told that if it takes a long time to get on plane, what is happening is that since it runs overfueled, the head temps really climb, cooling is not at the best and as the valve heats to malleable temps, the spring tension literally pulls it back in the head, losing seat pressure. Any body...

4.3 hard to start when warm

I just had a valve job done on my port 4.3 merc. Now the issue is, it starts fine when it's cold, but when it's warm it's not easy. Lats weekend we were out and I stopped to take on more fuel. Then when I tried to start the engine it wouldn't go. It took me about 1/2 hour before it fired up...

    I'd never have even tried

On the weekend we were docked at Grenadier Island centre and Parks Canada has replaced all the docks. Are they ever nice except....They are only 20'. Someone screwed up I think. But on Saturday afternoon a very nice Sea Ray 500 came cruising by with about 5 people on board. Soon he was backing...
