    Dead Evinrude?

I wasn't suggesting a DIY, definitely take it to the shop!

    Dead Evinrude?

A possibility, but I can't believe a dealership would do that.

    Dead Evinrude?

Since you recently purchased it hopefully there's a warranty of sorts on it and the dealerships takes care of it for you. If the motor is not seized it is a problem between the started and ignition key switch. The circuit will need to be tested for juice from one end to the other. Would be nice...

    Fishfinder help...

I was trying to jump on board quickly with a fish finder. But I'm now willing to wait until I can get something bigger. I knew a 5" screen would be too small, not even sure 9" would be good. I was considering doing that. Wasn't sure if I had to drag cables and wires or if their's such a thing...

    Fishfinder help...

Thanks PC for chiming in. I watched a lot of YouTube videos regarding fish finders/sonar. Once one learns how to read their screens all 3 types play well together. In many of the videos side imaging was especially used for such things as under boat docks, shallow water along shore (just to name...

Buying a boat that’s sat for 5 years

I don't know much about boats but that one sounds like an expensive money pit. Yes I bought a small money pit boat but it only cost $400.

    Trailer vin number

I would call your local Fish & Boat Commission and ask them.

    Replacing stringers.

Didn't mean to cause a fuss. I based my findings on what Steve (tech support) at US Composites had told me. No I didn't add the shipping cost in which will probably be a big chunk of coin. I priced the wood at Home Depot, I believe before the ridiculous price increase of lumber. The fiberglass...

I' I'm going to take a guess and say weight distribution and tilt.

    Strange Motor Behaviour.-

I worked for many years as an auto tech and I must say, swapping parts until you find the culprit is a definite redneck backyard way of fixing things which can be quiet costly. Electrical issues: follow the circuit from either end and test each component as you go along. Such as ignition, I...

    Overheating after impeller change

Although those temps aren't too high I can understand the frustration. This might sound silly but if all that was done was replace the impeller, could it be the wrong one?

    Replacing stringers.

If you're nervous about working the boat on the trailer you could add extra support, replace one stringer at a time. As far as $3,000 for a DIY on a 16' boat... I don't think it will come even close. I made a quick list of materials and started pricing it out for my rebuild. I have to add a...

Need help with re wiring my dads old bass boat

Just curious since I'm new to all this. How is a chartplotter and fish finder critical for getting home using the main battery?

Need help with re wiring my dads old bass boat

I have to chime in, this might be silly but... While I was researching boat wiring it was recommend to run your motor, bilge pump and nav/stern lights off the main battery. All other kinds of unnecessary accessories off the trolling motor batteries. Is that not necessary?

14' boat on 19' boat trailer?

I'm not that knowledgeable with boat & trailer setups but 5 feet extra play sounds to me to be a lot. The stern of the boat basically needs to be at the back of the trailer. You could adjust or fix the bunks and/or rollers and bow stop to cradle the boat. But now you have an extra 5 feet of...

    Minimum MPH Boat/Motor?

WOW thank you everyone for all the feedback and suggestions. Dang it sucks getting old, I should have known about fouling the plugs. So a outboard attached speedo and GPS is out. A kicker motor with possibly a low pitch prop is in, moves at slower speeds and get back to shore if main motor...

    Minimum MPH Boat/Motor?

Thanks for the quick reply. I was thinking I might need a drift sock. I don't think an electric trolling motor would work but not sure on that either. I still need to research if a speedo can be hooked up to my motor.

How can i tell how old my sea king 12 ft boat is

Does it have a HIN number on the transom? If so it's 1972 or newer. If not it's older than 1972. Without a HIN or some kind of code number it's going to be tough if at all.

    Minimum MPH Boat/Motor?

I wasn't sure where to post this question, hopefully here is fine. Been researching new fishing for me... lake trout and landlocked salmon. It is recommended to troll between 1.5 & 1.8 MPH. Would my 50hp Merc on my boat go that slow (see signature)? Or do I need something else?
