2012 F150 3.5 EB turbo(2) oil change, low miles on oil

The 3.5 Ecoboost is a twin turbo, direct injection (GDI) motor. Turbo motors are notorious for running hot due to the design. They make lots and lots of power but are very hard on oil, ignition and cooling systems. Took it down to the beach fishing last week. Starting to get an ever so...

    Stoked

Worked from home for 10 years after they closed the local manufacturing operations. Assigned to our office in San Diego for 2 years then transferred to our operation in Germany for the remainder. Had a love hate relationship with the job. Since I was no longer a department head, I had plenty...

2012 F150 3.5 EB turbo(2) oil change, low miles on oil

Just turned 60k on a 2015 3.5 Ecoboost. Dealer serviced. Factory oil (5-30 synthetic blend) and filters every 5k miles. New plugs @ 40k and new pads and rotors @ 60k miles FWIW: Ford starters and “salt life” are not compatible…..on starter # 3

2003 Mercury 200hp Saltwater edition 2 cycle, can the oiler be deleted?

Ran a 1989 175 hp Merc on a boat I owned for 4 years. Put over 1,400 hours on the motor. Lost the high speed stator 20 miles out. Came home at 1400 rpm which took sometime. The only other issue I had was the cap on the engine mounted oil tank. It cracked and blew off while leaving the inlet one...

    Ring Free question

Ring free is a Yamaha fuel additive recommended for daily use to prevent carbon buildup. It will not foul plugs when used as directed. A properly maintained 2 stroke shouldn’t foul plugs, period

    Nobody fishing?

You would at least get a line in the water…lol Not all spinning reels handle braid very well. Found that out looking for a reel for the light tackle jigging rod I built a couple of years back. Not all braided lines are not the same. I jig with #15 Sufix 832 braid. Cast #30 Sufix 832 and...

Just thought I'd share a nice photo.

Neighbor put on his fields for a couple of years. The practice is now ban in a number of States due to concerns of contamination from PFOA and PFOS, two forms of perfluoroalkyl substances, in biosolids...

We had a bit of wind last night

Could never figure out why someone would buy a wooded lot then cut all the trees down. If your scared of trees, why not just buy a house in the middle of a corn field instead?

    Nobody fishing?

Use a braid friendly reel, don’t overfill the spool and manually close the bail after a cast. wind knots go away

    Nobody fishing?

No winds to speak of. The breaking waves are the two currents concluding. “The Point” is formed by the convergence of the warm Gulf stream waters coming up from the South and the cold Labrador current coming down from the north. One of the holy grails of the surf fishing world. People come...

    Ideas for planters/raised beds?

Tried grow bags. Worked great by had to water everyday in the summer. Tried growing in coco with hydro nutrients. That too worked well, but had to mix and pH everyday. Got old….. last year went back to my 16’ x 12’ plot built with old hemlock, 2 x 10’s

Pushing Run-Flat tires to the limit

Maryland law goes one step beyond….you must travel in the right lanes if traveling 10 mph below the flow of traffic and you can’t “impede” the flow of traffic in the left, aka passing lane. On the section of Rt. 70 I drive everyday, the flow of traffic generally runs around 78-80 mph. Better be...

Pushing Run-Flat tires to the limit

Maryland’s law is ambiguous at best. They rewrote the statue in 2016 to make mention of turn signals while at the same time noting that violation is not a moving offense, ie no points. The violation portion didn’t make the final cut, but gives some insight into the intent. Either way, don’t...

Pushing Run-Flat tires to the limit

Your assuming that blinkers are a thing…lol Maryland doesn’t require the use of blinkers when changing lanes or making a turn from a marked turn lane. Pretty much the only thing requiring a blinker is a left hand turn. Makes it easy to identify those who “ain’t from around here”…lol

    Trailer tires.

The OE GY Wranglers aged out and where replaced. Guessing these Defenders will too since we average 7K miles a year on the truck. Dealer rotates the tires every 5K as part of the oil change package, but running up and down the island 3 weeks a year at 20 psi doesn't do them any good....lol

Bluebirds used to flock to our front field back when it was used as a tree nursery. Still see them, just not in the numbers seen before.

    Trailer tires.

Just had a third set of Defender 2 on my daily (Civic) last week. Got 63k out of the last set. Put upper 50k’s on the previous two sets. I quit rotating tires on this car. For whatever reason, the tires have worn pretty evenly naturally on every Honda I’ve owned. Rotating does nothing but...

Eagle Claw Starfire X trolling combo’s. Any good ( enough )?

I guess the real answer is because you can. Using longer rods for separation isn't really an option. The addtional leverage from a "good" fish would be too much for the average angler. We're left with elevating rods as needed then using a combination of distance, depth and width (planer boards)...

Eagle Claw Starfire X trolling combo’s. Any good ( enough )?

Why such long rods for trolling? All of my trolling rods (#20 and #30 class) are 6’ long. Use 5’-6” for #80 class rods Normally fish just 12 rods but have provisions to fish up to 20 rods if needed.
