love it, nice work!

One question, can you smell it when sleeping in the cabin? :D

Quick update.
Planned on a 3 day trip up the Severn River to Georgian Bay but the weather turned it into a 2 day trip.

The toliet worked well.

No smell at all. :D

very nice, I have been thinking about working out a restroom on my chief.

I know my wife... took her camping once... my kinda camping = 4x4 + my own trail = digging a hole

yup she held it in the entire time... I finally had to take her to a normal campground.

Re: 1965 Starcraft Cheiftain

I was talking with Grandad and he suggested I revitalize this thread.

This spring I am planning on doing more work on the cabin interior, will post pics as work progresses,.

Another project in the planning stages is a swim platform. All suggestions and insight welcome and encouraged as I have no experience in this area.
The other priority is a charging system upgrade. The stock alternator just can't keep up to the fridge I installed last season.

I will be happy to see the end of winter!

I'll be working on a swim platform over the next couple of months. If you are interested just tag along the Islander thread. I also have zero experience, but I think I know what I want it to look like anyway.

Okay, so winter seems to intend to stay forever.

However on the premise that we will one day see grass again after the 9 feet of snow has melted we would like to have a bimini top for the boat this "summer".

Anyone have some input on what diamentions would be appropriate for our '65 Cheif?

Thinking of something like this.

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/4-Bow-Bimini-Boat-Cover-91-96-600D-UV-8-Waterproof-Top-Boat-Cover-New-/360869106395?pt=Boat_Parts_Accessories_Gear&hash=item54057992db&vxp=mtr&_uhb=1

Thanks

just saw your latest mod....nice.

on the charging, Balmar makes some badazz marine alternators but they're spendy. what about two 130ish watt PV panels on the cabin roof?

Weathers still been to crappy to do much but found some time today to fill some holes.
The previous owner(s) had a compulsion to drill holes everywhere.

Bought this new product off of fleabay. They are like aluminum brazing rods.
All you need is a propane torch. Goes by many names such as Alumiweld.

Decided to tackle four 3/8 to 7/16 inch holes on each side of the boat.
Worked pretty good and I didnt even set the boat on fire in the process.

Anyone have any techniques to polish out the last remaining grinder marks?

Nice job on filling those holes. I used the same product, after a slight learning curve I was happy. As far as polishing out the marks. Primer will fill em in nicely, otherwise you'll need to take off a lot more material.

Decided to tackle one of the largest holes drilled into the boat.
This one was about and inch and a half in diameter so I made a support plate out of some aluminum to keep the molten metal from dripping through.
