Ez, that is the same person I ordered mine through. Can't beat the price! Locally they wanted almost $80 to cut a new set, Idk how anyone can justify that...

Got a new toy for my little lady today! It's a '75 Merc 7.5hp in like new condition. She was sitting in a basement since '78, the seller pulled her out just last week, performed all the regular updates, and put it up for sale. She looks and runs like new, even when cold she starts with a single pull! And the best part was the guy was looking to trade for a snowblower of all things! I figure I can find another used sb in the fall for less than half of the cost of a trolling motor in this condition. Here are a few pics I took this afternoon.

Great find JB! That'll work like a charm on your boat.

Nice little Merc. Looks like it was in a time capsule!

Really nice Merc, J. Looks like she was just unpacked! Maybe the PO doesn't believe the warm weather is gonna last.

Re: 1972 SS Inside Out Restoration (New Title)

Thanks guys! I think it will perform a lot better then the 3 HP Sears I was using last year. I'm just glad I have something powerful enough to get me back home if need be. Plus the FNR option is nice as well.

I also received the decals for the Johnson yesterday. It took about a hour or so it lay them, but I think they turned out fantastic! I decided not to put the supplied decals on the front and rear. After looking at the pics that came with the kit I though it looked too cluttered, so she just got them on the sides. Anyways, here is a pic.

Here is a comparison photo of the 3 HP Sears and the new Merc. Last year I had my old Evinrude 125 go down on me about 3/4 of a mile out. It took nearly 2 hours to get back in using the Sears lol. I don't think that will be a issue anymore!

The Merc is superior in every aspect.

That a 1946 Muncie Neptune that puts out a whopping 1.5 HP. Its what I have on my little hand built rocker bottom row boat. It's the boat in my avatar. I use it for pan fish in the fall . She's 66 years old and still runs like a sewing machine. She makes for great conversation at the launch.

Here are some additional photos.

I had a old '62 Seagull Century 100 on it but it proved too powerful.

That is a nice Neptune. The only way you can lose fuel mix, etc is lose the flywheel. Wish more motors had important info stamped like that.

And the Jonny looks great!

Notice the lack of warning labels or little pictures with fingers getting cut off. It's a by-gone era that's for sure, for instance there's a exposed spark plug and wire... Things like this were designed and built during a time when law suites and stupid people didn't exist ;)

Re: 1972 SS Inside Out Restoration (New Title)

Well I finally found some time to install the aux motor bracket and Merc. Even though I followed the instructions for the bracket to a"T" , I'll have to get the boat in the water to see if its the right height... To me It looks to be a few inches too high, but I cant remember exactly where the water line is. If anything I'll have to maybe a hole or two at most. I'm limited a little to the starboard side with the tiller handle but not by much, maybe a 1-1.5". I really wish there was enough space along side the main power plant to clamp a motor, but oh well... This setup should work well with a 3' PVC pipe extension so I'm not having to climb into the splash well to steer.

Re: 1972 SS Inside Out Restoration (New Title)

I'm looking to do the exact setup on my SS. I've got my short shaft Evinrude 15HP and a ridiculously beefy stainless adjustable kicker bracket. I'll be mounting it in pretty much the exact same spot because I'm putting my swim platform on the port side (due to their already being holes their from a previous platform and believe or not they actually line up with my new one!).
