Splashing her by Saturday? You do that then I can not be held liable for any names I may call you.

Nice progress the past few days. Keep the pics coming.

Thanks chase! Yup I'm ready to be called a jerk, crazy dude, freak, and pretty much anything else you can dish out :D. I will try to keep the pictures coming as well.

Nice job......................
Thanks mccurtis!

Looking real good BG, good luck with the splash tomorrow, waiting to see the photos.
Glen

Thanks dozer! If I do make it out I will be sure to at least get pictures.

YeeeeHaaaa - A spash on the horizon...Take lots of pics bud. Are you planning to put some kind of UV coating on that transom? Lookin good!!!!!

Yup thanks Michael! Splash is coming up soon enough, even I if don't make tomorrow. I think I will spray on a quick coat of rusto before I put on the motor. I forgot about making it uv proof. I liked the natural wood look :).

--------------------
Ok so I still have a bit of stuff to do today. So I will see how things turn out!

Re: 1978 16' Starcraft SuperSport Resto

Well she got splashed today! I knew I wouldn?t have time tomorrow so it was a mad rush to get things done, but I made it. We actually, got a ton of help from my friends. I still have a lot to do, but I think I?ve made it past most of the hard parts now. Just need to finish up the interior, and fix another leaky rivet on the transom?

I have video by the way guys, but probably will not be able to upload it till a week from next Monday. I?ll be up north for a much needed week; sadly the boat won?t come quite yet though.

I did get pictures though! (It would not be a splash without pictures)

All loaded up at the house ready to go.

On the water looking back. Still needs paint on that epoxy, will get to that and touchups when I get back.
HPIM2530.jpg

Console looking out. Windshield needs the gasket or something to fill the gap, also on the list. It whistles like crazy?
HPIM2529.jpg

And a nice shot of the water! Pretty calm day, and a few ski boats that I wish I had sometimes? Maybe I?ll put on a 150hp :D! Nope?
HPIM2533.jpg

Forgot to add almost. Motor started right up! That?s amazing considering that I didn?t winterize it ! It will get a lower unit oil change and impeller change before the next time out for sure though.

Not bad today! Feels great to be out once, even though there is still a ton of work to be done. Time to sleep, I get to get up again at 6 tomorrow, and I?ve been running on fumes this whole week. Had to complain there, I know that I?m not the only one.

Have a great weekend guys!

Way to go BG, yea I am jealous but in a good way. I will get there someday and be able to experience the feelings you got with your boat splash.

Thanks man! She still is far from looking decent. Maybe it's just me, but I see EVERY flaw and it really bugs me!
Even my vinyl numbers and Starcraft logos don't look good to me ...

Thankt Glen! Great to have her out again. Like I said above there is still a ton to be done, and doesn't look as good as others around here but works for me.

Yup you will! I was very glad to make it in yesterday, the feeling was like a dream. Well until I hit a huge wake...

Congrats BG. You've givin us all a ray of hope.

Thanks Michael! I hope I can do everyone a favor, as so many of you have helped me get to at least this point.

-----------------------------

I'm off for up north early tomorrow, so I won't be around for a while. I'll still be trying to figure out a couple things while I'm away, but it will be nice to sort of relax about the boat now that she has been in the water once.

Have a great rest of the weekend, and good luck on your projects everyone! :D

Thanks Huron! I think she liked it too :D.

-----------------------

Back from a much-much needed week away from everything up north. I was able to clear my head finally and think about a couple things for once. It also helped knowing the boat was at least able to get into the water once.

While up there I got my list together of what still needs to be done. It's pretty long, but things can get done as I feel like it for the most part. A lot of it can actually wait 'till next winter.

Only thing now is that next weekend the boat may be put into use of helping out a friend tow barges (pontoons)... So this week I'm going to see if I can get the main things done, and if I can help out then sweet !

I still need to get some seats as well. I think the wiring I can rig up for the most part from the old stuff, unless I can get wire by mid week if I put in an order tomorrow. I only need the navigation lights, and the bilge pump working. Also will need to get a new battery. The trailer will have it's fun as well because I will have a drive up there. I think I can do it, but if I can't make it then ohh well. What a way to come back to the stressed out life :D!

Couple questions for 'ya guys!
1. I need a seal/gasket for under my windshield. Any suggestions on what to use? I was thinking on the stuff for the windows or doors to seal them.

2. If anyone has some seats they like that they have found give me a link. I kinda want some fishing fold down seats, but don't want to spend a fortune. I've been looking forever for some...

3. Do they make a adjustable seat pedestal that would go from something like 8" to around 12"? I like being under a windshield when driving sometimes, and others would like the visibility of being above...

4. I'm sure I'll have a couple more later on :D just wait!

By the way I should be able to get that video up tomorrow or Tuesday if I can get to it...

Hey BG, check with a local glass shop they have a sealant that comes in rolls for setting picture windows and such. It comes in 1/2" and 3/4" width, and is very reasonably priced, will work great. I used this stuff to seal my splashwell to the transom and will use it for the windshield.

Thanks WnG! Couldn't have made it without the help from everyone around here. I've only been in once though... more to come soon I hope :rolleyes:

----------

Got my list made for what would need to get done (page long:facepalm::eek:). Don't think I will have to order much more than my seat stuff. Even then I could make do with camping chairs again :D.

Still working on trying to find those pedestals. I've made a thread in the regular boat topics to find out if anyone as found any...

Also where can I get lower unit oil for the outboard? Does it have to be anything extremely special like from a dealer? Would love to get that off my mind before I kill the lower unit...

Congrats on getting the boat wet ;)

I Googled "adjustable boat seat pedestal" and found a couple

http://www.amazon.com/Seasense-Adjustable-Pedestal-11-5-Inch-17-5-Inch/dp/B000BHQWI6 11.5-Inch To 17.5-Inch $46

http://www.cabelas.com/pedestals-bases-action-products-adjustable-boat-seat-pedestal-1.shtml 16" to 22" $27

At least they are out there!

I get mine at Advanced Auto parts.:)

Thanks I'll go to mine and get some today along with a pump. Also read up in my great service manual I got, and have it all figured out. :D

Yup they are out there, but no one makes a stupid shorter one. They are all the taller ones :D . I might just get something quick and make it work. I hope if I order stuff by tonight it'll show up by at least Friday? Not sure...

Re: 1978 16' Starcraft SuperSport Resto

I just got back from checking just about every darn place around here. No lower unit oil anywhere! I check Advanced Auto Parts, AutoZone, Meijers (got my pump there), and then O'Reilly's had the Penzoil stuff, but only in the tubes. I didn't want to spend $20 some bucks on what I would need. If I have to I will go back otherwise I'm going to check Bass Pro tonight. I need to look at seats and they aren't too far. Sure they will be expensive but what the heck a guy can look :D.

I'm going to see if I can finish sealing a couple things in the transom, and I think I may have missed putting in a rivet. I had one leak back there. I might even think about putting in my transducer if I feel like it, that way I won't have to deal with anything back there for a while.

My trailer lights still need to get hooked up as well, so maybe today. I got my fenders powerwashed so now I can sand quick and prime/paint them. Checking things off the list will be great.

I'll get that video I promised up soon... Haven't been in the computer mood lately .

Thanks EZ. I actually don't have a Walmart that close to me... I'll be at Bass Pro soon to check out seats, and if the price is decent I'll get it there.
