Cat too make your cover last much longer, purchase a couple pool noodles split them length ways down one side and then slide them over the top of the windshield frame to act as a cushion for the cover.

Thank you so very much Glen for the tip. Gonna go get the pool noodles today.:joyous:

Decided to make my own support poles for boat cover. This is what I constructed. :)
I appreciate Glen's tip on pool noodles, they work awesome. Got my Islander moved to my daughter's house. Big red started laboring a few miles from her house. Pulled into a station, found had a wheel bearing overheating. That was deciding factor to get a tandem axle trailer. Waited a couple hrs. & managed to get to daughter's with no further hick-ups.

Well Guys; I have had to make a very hard decision. Due to health issue's, had to take a long hard look at the facts. Have decided to sell all 3 of my boats!
Have started saving again to buy a newer Islander. I can still fish, all of my grandsons are driving now. So no problem getting them to go with.
This was very hard to own up to, but the facts are the facts. God bless all of my iboat brothers. Will let you know when she is sold.:blue:

Sorry to hear the news, catfishr. Health is more important and getting to fish with the grandsons is good therapy, as well as good for the soul. If you PM one of us and tell where you're placing ads, we can help let others know about it. A V5 Islander is desired by some of us too.

Don't be a stranger - Once a TinHead, always a Tinhead. :) I hope it won't be too long before post about your new Islander. Take good care of yourself, Tin Brother.

Yep, fishing w/ the grandsons would be much more of a priority then working on a boat, even a tin boat.

Hope the health stuff resolves so you can take 'em on lots of fishing trips.

Thank you so very much GA_: Yes, that is absolutely true. For 50+ years now, that has always been my preference. As far as I'm concerned, can not beat the durability of a sound tinnie!
I will always be a forum stalker & poster as long as the Lord willing.
Check your pm,s will let you know were am listing. Have a for sale sign on her at my daughters house. Will be draging her home next week and listing.:thumb:

Looking forward to seeing the new rig, post Islander departure.

Have a great holiday season & a happy new year! Hope your health is improving... BTW: I hear time w/ grandsons is medicinal (up to an indeterminate limit)...........

Merry Christmas from mine to yours................

As a post script to your story catfishr1, I believe I just bought your exact old Islander here in jolly old South Carolina! I was perusing the forums for information on the Islander in general, when I came across your thread here. After viewing your pictures, I am 100% positive, I have your boat! :joyous:
It has seen a few changes since your last post in 2013. I will get some pics up of it soon so you can see the changes.
