What is a V5 hull?

V5 Hull is heavier aluminum 100 instead of 80, sharper rise on the bow, and the chin comes further up the bow almost to the eye. They were designed for offshore and big water.

A V5 always reminds me of a destroyer with the pointed bow.

What is a V5 hull?

Thanks for dropping by Bonairll; My buddy Glen answered your ? better than I could. Starcraft introduced the V5 hull in 1978. Because they have 2 strakes on port & starboard side that runs to the bow & the keel, hence the term V5. They plane quicker and handle rough water great. My Islander has 21 degrees of dead rise, my supersport V has 17 degrees.

Thanks Glen, GA, & Dave: Got back about an hr. ago. Snapped a few pics. before I left. As you can see both tires on starboard side had dry rotted and were flat. P/O agreed to buy 2 used ones and put on as he had promised could tow home. Going to take some more pics this evening. Am tickled pink with this deal too.20130606_132214.jpg20130606_132143.jpg20130606_132202.jpg

No milky oil, & yes GA_ and jas she is a runner. The past owner has a Marine shop. He located this boat & motor last year. Took it to his shop and had his crew go thru motor top to btm. Had them change oil & filter, started and ran her fir 30 min. Then winterized her. Was moving his shop, didnt want to move the boat too. Got her for 1300$ a bit more than wanted to pay but well worth the price.:joyous:

Complete, maintained V8 for $1300? (less once you strip and sell the good stuff)

I think that's excellent!!!

Bottom feeder approved!:thumb:
