I feel your frustration and I hate it when someone tells me to relax, but that's exactly what needs to be done first; i.e., poor decisions are often made when angry. "I don't have bad luck, I have a thinking problem!!" I like that saying, sometimes it's true lol

No advice given here, just saying that "I" get better results when I step back for a few... and not give up on the objective. There are more people than "you" that want to see this project to completion; just because we see boats as part of our human endeavor.

I took the second block apart and found the housing was the problem not the block. It should work just fine. I'm en route to the machine shop to drop it off. The internals looked almost brand new. I will post more once I hear from the shop regarding it.

JR- thanks for the pep talk lol. I know others want to see it done as well. Hell, I want it done more than Glastron did when they built it. Sometimes it's easy to get irritated and I'm guilty as well.

Oh the circle of life we live in. I took the second engine to the machine shop only to find it is a 2.5L and none of my stuff will match up to it. As I was looking at my old block, I couldn't understand-or see- the problem he was describing with the block being non repairable. I left the machine shop and began driving home, once again wondering what I would do now. ***I was a diesel mechanic for years, I understand engines***

Wanting a second opinion, I pulled into another well known machine shop and explained the situation to the owner, Mike. Mike said "lets go look at this "unfixable" block" with a chuckle. He looked at the block and chuckled again saying "I have fixed much worse." We discussed more about the block and he said he would double check everything but he was 99.9% sure everything was fixable.

So, I bought two engines that wouldn't work/damaged. Wasted hours jacking with them.

All I can do now is sit back and laugh at myself. If the block is repairable, I just might give Mike a gift certificate to a nice steakhouse once I get it built and running.

I will update more once I know.

Got a call from Mike today. The sleeve was installed and the block was repaired!! Block was bored to .030 over and he is assembling the head and finishing the crank tonight/tomorrow morning. WOOOHOOOOOO

I will return the other two engines and the money spent will be put towards my outdrive and other parts I need.

I guess sometimes, you have to deal with craziness to enjoy the happiness. Pics to come soon once I get the block and parts home along with the rebuild kit.

Got the final call from Mike today. The block was repaired and bored .030 over. The crank rod and main journals were turned to .010 over specs. I placed an order today from CleggEngine for my complete rebuild kit. This kit also comes with new pushrods and updated cam gear. I also ordered 32 items from Amazon, everything else I need for the engine (Starter, alternator, sensors etc.). I am going brand new all the way around. I hope to have all of the parts home and begin assembling by January 14th or 15th.

The outdrive should be ready to go by then and installed on the boat. Once I install the engine, I plan on finding the best weather day, take the boat to the lake and fire this bad girl up. I won't launch the boat and drive it, I only want the boat in the water for breaking in the cam and checking for any possible leaks.

I will post plenty of photos and possibly a video or two as I continue the progress.

jrt..So can I. If it was at the house, I would probably be acting like a 4 year old, sitting in the driver seat making engine noises....or did I already do that...TOP SECRET.... hahaha

lol vroooommm vrooooommm but for future reference, when anything's turned, it's "under spec" - the decimal represents a negative from specs. JS.. no criticism, common mistake...

Great day so far. Cleaned up the garage and put the engine block on the stand. All internal and external parts are clean and ready for engine assembly. I'll post photos tonight as I make progress. Plan is to assemble all of lower end along with head. I will stop there tonight so I can get new paint on the block before calling it a night.

Thanks for the updates. I love it when a plan comes together. April 1st will be here before you know it. Are you going to do your testing/break-in runs near OKC or make that long tow to the Gulf and back?

Thanks Willy. My goal is to start the engine and perform the break in at Thunderbird lake here locally, that goal is by Jan 31. Once I know it's good, no leaks and cam is broke in, I'll winterize and finish the interior etc. April 1 is the goal for the boat to be done except the top. I want 20-25 hrs, first oil change and 20 hr maintenance, of lake time before I leave for the gulf. Work out any bugs here not there.

Last night i got the lower end assembled along with the head, water pump, timing cover, and thermostat housing. I got the valves adjusted, I hope I got them right I have done thousands of roller engines and only a handful of flat tappet style. Also i put the first coat of paint on the engine. I will get this all finished up by the weekend-I have to go to work to keep paying for these parts I keep buying hahahaha
