Great score Kelly, I envy you and the tools hacking into that old glasser. One day I will find a deal like that for a doner boat, just for the joy of hacking it up.

I did learn a real lesson with doing this though. I got kinda warm working outside on a half way nice day and took my work hoody off and just had my bibs and tshirt on, like bare arms. Well my arms hurt like a real bugger that night from the fiberglass, did not even think about my arms hurting:facepalm:. I was smart enough to wear the respirator though, just no long sleeves.

Well the Apallo is gone to the dump and it only set me back a bit which I was very happy about.

Well I have not been able to really work on the Islander for a couple of weekends due to weather being to crappy:(.

Nice fish..... 3 more than I got yesterday. Got turned back outside the harbour. Too windy to get to the fishing hole. Were you fishing from shore?

Thanks and yes we were plunking from the shore. I would not have wanted to be on the river on Saturday with all the wind we were getting, I am betting that there were some seasick fisherman that day. Those boats were bouncing around like corks, just did not look any fun to me.

Well I am betting that will be the last for me for spingers this year, it is supposed to close tomorrow night in the Columbia River. ODFW has already done 2 extensions and I really don't think that there will be a third, but you never know. They just opened the season way to early this year and then closed it early and the fish were not even running yet. I checked a while ago and on the 16 there was a total of 120 springers over Bonneville Dan and then only 115 total yesterday. Those are some low numbers for saying that the river is closed to fishing. I was told that there are still over 3000 allowed for the sportsmans catch, that is a lot of freaking fish to be caught and they still want to close it.

Ok, I will shut up now that I have vented some.

Re: Well I did it now! 67 Islander Rebuild

We have the same problem up here with our DFO. (Department of Commercial and FN Fishers). I know not as bad as my brothers to the south but we are having problems too. I keep track of what?s going on with the amounts of fish that are returning every year and from what I have been reading it should be a stellar year for returns. At least that?s the theory??Will have to wait and see. You guys to the south are welcome up here to come and fish for some of your fish as most of the fish are from your hatcheries. It?s an old problem, the guy?s in Alaska take BC fish and we take fish bound for streams to the south. We are not happy with the way it is but what can we do? Personally I say shut down the commercial fishery until all the runs are recovered but that?s not going to happen as the FN and Commercials have way too much say on what?s going on. Currently there are a lot of guys putting pressure on DFO to increase budgets and put the fish first. I, as many others, will keep up the pressure and hopefully things will get better. It may not get better for us but our children may benefit from our work. Keep the faith and don?t let it get you down. If any of you guy?s need any info on fishing spots here in BC I will be happy to point you in the right direction. I would also be happy to meet up and fish the same area if anyone decides to come to BC and fish. Have boat will travel.

I for one would love to come up to BC and fish and will do so one of these days when time and budget allow. Hopefully it will not be to long before we can do so either, just have to wait and see I guess.

On another note, does anyone have an idea how much gluvit it will take to do my 22 Islander? Still in the buying and preparing stage and that is the next thing that I am going to order.

I used about 3/4 of the gallon kit on the Islander. The smaller kit would not have worked.

I think I have just enough left to Gluvit the Jet.

You otta think about getting a 2nd Starcraft so your Gluvit doesn't go to wast huh;)

Yeah you'll need 2 quarts. One quart JUST did my 18' and that was stretchin' it towards the front.

I should say that I was very liberal laying it down since I knew I had plenty. I think you can buy a gallon cheaper that 2 qt. sized kits so that made some sense anyway.

Cheers!

Ok, a 2 lb kit is not enough then. 2 lbs is $48.44 and the 8 lb kit is $124.94 here on iboats. If you look at that money wise, the gallon kit is a whole lot cheaper than buying it by the quart. But then I don't really have any use for that much gluvit though.

Well unless I go with Jason's idea and buy another Starcraft which has crossed my mind. I am currently trying to get rid of my seanymph now and when I do I may just start looking for like an SS:D. I found a couple at a decent price but that was when I also still had that Apallo in the driveway and the wife was saying no way. If I can sell off the seanymph and the Apallo trailer then there is a good chance I can get something smaller than the Islander, or bigger if I happen to find a really big girl.

I was also just thinking that I am going to need to install a sterio as well. Any suggestons on what to get in the way of a marine sterio? Not so much for me but for the wife, no tunes and sooner or later no happy wife. Which makes for a very unpleasant trip if you know what I mean.

You don't have to mix the gallon all at once measure and only add the hardner as needed and save the reast. It will stay useable only if it is not mixed.
