Thanks for all the kind words guys, it is really appreciated. The only thing that gets me about the help is that whenever one of them needs something I am the first one they call. Guess things are going to change around here for a while, nope not a while but for a very ling time. Jason I would be more than happy to send ya a message but am thinking that I could probably have it done by the time you got here as I am sure that it would take a while for you.

So when the boat is ready to go the wife, Jack and I will be having a good time with it. And of course the family when they do come to visit which is not a lot.

Ok Ez, I think that stuff is black from looking at some of the stuff that I was reading.

Well started the day off fairly good, the wife took me and got me a new tool (toy).

So I just had to play around with it just for a few minutes. Not to bad I don't think considering I have never tried to clean anything like this up before.

Well I started to clean up the inside skin of the transom, man what a freaking mess it is. Here you can see that there is some corrosion inside the channels for the transom wood. I tried to get into them with the grinder and a wire brush on my die grinder and just could not reach it.

And I was worried about corrosion behind the channel brackets, with every thing else I have found I just did not feel comfortable not addressing this issue.

And I am glad that I did not leave them in place now. As you can see there is corrosion on the back side of the channels.

And here is the transom that is behind the transom brackets. It is just freaking nasty and really going to cause me some problems if I don't take care of it now.

And after cleaning all that gunk off the inside of the transom, this is what I found.

Guess it is a good thing that I am putting a patch on the transom. I am almost wondering if I should just have another sheet of aluminum welded over the entire transom, at least down to the rivets. If I go below the rivets for the transom channel I might have a tough time getting new rivets back into the channels.

Nice a bench grinder... I been wanting one for years... but Ive been too cheap to buy one...lol. The corrosion doesnt look real bad. Although is that a hole in the above pic?

And here is the side of the hull behind the transom channel for the side.

Got to looking at the transom channel that I pulled out and notice that there are cracks in it. This is just getting really stupid, I think that someone it trying to test my patience or something. The cracks are the red lines.

Well as you can see there are a whole lot of new holes in my boat now where the rivets used to be.

And notice that in some of the holes that you can see more of that stupid corrosion. Somebody tell me this is going to be worth it when I get done. Cause I am starting to wonder, every time I touch it I seem to find something else wrong with it.

Yea it is a hole JB. And I forgot to take a pic of the transom skin after I got all the corrosion ground out, it is worse than what you think it is bud.

Bench grinder was 35 at fred meyers and then she got me a stand for it at lowes. I have wanted one for a long time and now finally have one. I think she was trying to cheer me up cause I was pretty down in the dumps at the start of today.

Sounds like Rhino Liner. refering to thr blsck stuff you are considering to coat things with Is that stuff av. in White ? sometimes good to see what you did before covering it up. Hard to do with black colors in a dark hole. Take a few xtra hours tomorrow before you start ,must get our rest.

I'm told that Rhino Liner comes in several colors. The guy doing my top recommended it for my engine cover I'm building. He's sure there is a light grey to match my deck. And is there anything you haven't redone and that boat already. You must be getting ready for your second go round. It'll get done, you're as persistent (stubborn) as I am.

Yea you can get the rhino liner in about any color you want, I have checked into it as I want it done on my truck. Well there is not much left to take out of the boat at this point.

Here she is with her skirt off yesterdady, those 2x4's hold the tarp up when she is covered so that I can still get in there and do things when it is raining.

That pic you can see the windsheild is still attached, it is now in my utility trailer till I find a better place for it. I have a pic of her with the windshield off but must have forgot to upload it, and am at work so it is not going to happen right now.

Well can anyone guess what that is sitting on the saw horses? Yup yer right, it is new transom cut out, just the outside cut. Have not done the keyway yet.

And here it is with epoxy setting up between the 2 layers of 3/4" marine ply.

The wood in the 2 pics below are all that wood that is left in the boat. The bow pieces are going to be pulled, coated with epoxy and reinstalled. They are about the only pieces of wood from the boat that will be reused. The one that goes across the stern will have to be replaced and it is so broken up that I am affraid that it will fall apart when I remove it from the boat.

When I removed the windsheild, the seal was flaking just plain nasty stuff. Had to cut the majority of the nuts off the windsheild bolts as they were just spinning when I tried to undo them. That windsheild is a lot heavier than what I though as well, I really thought that would be one thing that would be easy to remove. Not sure what I was thinking as it was a real PITA. I also took the grinder/flapper wheel to the area where the front window goes and cleaned all the old sealant and paint off of it so I don't have to deal with that later. Don't feel like I got a whole lot done either, other than making more of a mess. I will say that my sweet wife was a big help to me though, if not for her I am not so sure I would have got that much done.

Here she is all bright and cheery just helping clean up my mess.

Kelly, you've come a long way brother. That transom looks huge compared to us underachiever's 16 footers. I can't imagine pulling that! The new one looks really good. The wives are a way bigger help than they realize aren't they? The clean-up alone in my messes saved me hours of idle time. Handing tools, parts...calming us down from cardiac meltdowns. Hats off man ...you picked a good one too.

Yea BH, that transom is rather big. When I got it all unbolted I was wondering how I was going to lift it out, but I did manage to get it on my own. The new one looks a lot better than that old one with all the corrosion on it. Yuppers the wife is a great help bud, she is what keeps me going lots of the time. And you have no idea how right you are on calming down from cariac meltdowns. Thanks bud, I think that she is wonderful as well.

Well GLG buddy, I really hope that you are right on that cause it sure seems like that light at the end of the tunnel is getting dimmer. As far as getting it back on the water, it has never seen water since I have had it except for what I have put in her. But yea I understand there buddy and try to keep my head up and keep plugging along.

Don't fret! My boat didn't see the water for 2 years after I brought it home, and I never intended to restore it, just "freshen it up". You'll get there, and the sense of self satisfaction is so sweet.

If it makes you feel any better, The inside of the transoms on both the boats I did were white chalk messes also. Keep up the good work. You'll soon be finally putting parts BACK on this boat yet!

Man I sure hope you are right Ez.

And I think I figured out why I have been having some issues with my moods lately. Started taking a new med, it is Lyrica and one side affect can be depression. I have to give it a try though, it seems to be helping the pain that I have in my feet all the time.

Well I said I had some more pics of the tinny that I was seriously thinking of turning into new pepsi cans. Broad side and front on view, no windshield or anything else for that matter. The trap in the back is just covering the ladder that I was to lazy to take out after I pulled it off of the boat.

While removing the windshield something fell into my shoe and I was just to busy to see what it was. At the end of the day my foot was hurting pretty bad, took my shoe off and found that there was a fish hook in my shoe. I could not believe that it was not stuck into my foot.
