Re: '68 Holiday-V 120 Mercruiser I/O

Ok I'm back now, had a great time in NC. Back to the boat :D

"Add a battery" is in, Fuel/Water separator is in.
Got a Stereo made some boxes for the speakers and they are in
Just got to wire up 2 volt meters and Fuel gauges + the stereo power leads.
I friend gave me his old Eagle easy fish 320c so I have to install it as well.

I'll take some photo's of the installed parts etc! on Wednesday

Here are photo's that i took before the epic day last September..

Well I would be willing that it would not float to well loaded up like that:eek:. I take it that is what it looked like when you got it. That is the one nice thing about the Islander not fitting in the garage, the wife won't put stuff in her just cause something is in the way. Then she would forget about it and then add more and more.

You keep it over there. We've finally gotten rid of it here. (except for semi-daily t-storms. had a doozie last night)

Well I need some advice on the placement of the Paddle wheel and the Transducer.

Here are some photo's on where I think they should go.

Dose the Paddle wheel have to be mounted Horizontal to the hull? (or is it ok to have it at an angle)
They way that the paddle wheel mounting bracket is shaped it is not flush with the hull, "It tilts up" when it's flush on the transom.

Re: '68 Holiday-V 120 Mercruiser I/O

Took the boat out for a shakedown cruise, she fired up and purred :D Gradually increased the RPM's not going over 3k after about 4 hours on the lake I notice that the Temp would rise quickly on a hard turn to the port @ 3k but not to the starboard

After the initial launch there was water in the bilge about 3/4 to an Inch (PO said that it had a leak) the water level never increased through out the day.

Towards the end of my day I checked the Bilge for any change in the water level (as some did come in when I launched her) I noticed that I have a small fuel leak at where the SS line meets up with the Carb, going to replace the fittings before I take her out again.

The second issue I found and oil seeping out of the top of the Fuel pump the nut which is on tight (not clue on this one)

After I got home I got the hose and filled the bilge with about 2in, found 2 leaking rivets where the roller had pushed a dent in the hull which it has one on either side of the drain plug as well as water seeping out of the port spline in the aft.

Glad you got her out. Looks like fun was had. I'm sure none of those issues will be a big deal to take of.
