Hey Trooper, good to see you are settled in and working on the boat. I remember when I started hanging with my grandfather at age 8 working under the car with him. I don't think I was much help really but that spawned an awesome lifetime of memories with him. Enjoy that granddaughter, as I am sure you will. Glad to see you still have a big yard. What part of Ohio is your family from?

Man, if you were desperate to grind something, I'd gladly drag the FireFlite up your way :D

Troop, excuse the brief hijack, but if JBC cuts up the {RED} fireflite, we might have to light some torches... Its one thing to not work on the old beaut , but to cut her up is just plane wrong.

Decker...you are correct long time....enjoyed the visit....

JB...The others were complaining before we even picked her up.....

AJ...working in my grandfathers shop brings back alot of fond memories as well....Springboro and surrounding areas...

PMC...hijack anytime you like....I was hoping he meant grinding as in repairs...not in grind it up!

Making some good progress with the sanding...sure is hard on the arms sanding by hand....

made a block 11" long by about 3" wide.....been using whole sheets of 80 grit....seems to be working pretty good....if I ever get around to fixing my computer issues I will post some pics...

Edit: Borrowed the admiral's pc..

Looks great, all but the sweatin' part ;)

So, have you decided to paint or gel since it seems you've burned thru in a few places?

ondrvr's squeegee tip would hopefully help cut down on both the sanding & the burn thru....

Man Troop I'll bet you know every square inch of your hull like the back of your dust covered hand . LOL !
Just a ? If you are spraying more gell could you just squeegee some gell over the o/p then spray more coats of gell ? Might save some sanding ... I was just stinking .. :)

Edit : Jb beat me to it ..

Holy cow that's a lot of sanding troop!!!

Looks Great!!

Thanks Saginaw...still lots of sanding to go...arms gave out for tonight...

JB I have been thinking abut it alot while sanding....the low spots like on the transom above...think I can use the squeegee method there... I am hoping that using the larger blocks will make things more flatter than before then if I spray it again with gel...and check the depth...I can keep from burning through...

But I must admit...painting has crossed my mind a time or two...

Oh ya SP... and starting to see places under there I thought I'd never see again

I was told I'd need to sand it down with 80 grit before spraying it again...so I guess I keep sanding...

Dang Troop, I do a ton of hand sanding at work, on a daily basis, I might add, and you make me look like a wimp...
I think you have done more square feet of sanding on that hull than I do in a month...you are a monster!
Keep up the effort, bro, eventually you will get the look you want!:D

I don't envy you at all. Although she's coming along just fine. Just remember to change hands now and again. Have to keep those muscles even.

Wow Troop,
You sure or taken alot off of the gel.. I really like the chalkline chalk ideal.. Really good ideal..
If you still have the straight line sander, they make 80 gritt for them.. Might be alittle bit easier to use..

Keep at it and one day you will look back and it will be done..
