Well..the Mrs found enough in the budget to replace my camera oops!...I was told under no circumstances am I permited to use a screwdriver on this camera...

Proof I did all the brown on this side...

One more different angle....onlt that top strake are left...besides where I out new glass...saving that fun for later :)

Working on the farside today..kinda tough...been crouched on top of the hull due to a little rain moving through...but it is coming off..got the entire of the bottom rough sanded...

Finding a lot of places like this...left/right scratches that had been covered with paint...and the gray stuff (filler?) has cracking evident...kinda hard to see in this pic...will try to get some dye in them to make them easier to see...

more...should I groove this out our sand down to glass to inspect? Looks to me like it was some pretty hard hits...

Well I tell ya...got a late start...was up half the night..but it actually turned into a very productive day!

I had bought some 60 grit pads for my DA orbital sander...so decided to try them out...man they work good! the bearing on the sander started locking up on me, so took the seal out...cleaned it out...put some oil in it..seal back on...good as new!

The far side got done!

as did the near side...

And the stern...

I still have 2 hours of daylight too!...Spose I could start on the cap?

Hope everyone else is having a great weekend!!!

Wow! awesome progress...glad to hear the paparazzi got some new photographic equipment...:D...

I had the exact same thing happen to my DA, removed the seal, cleaned the bearing, and re-greased with some wheel bearing grease...been working ever since...;)

Thanks guys...felt good to get something done today for sure...I did sand on the cap a little, but wanted to get things ready for PB/fairing in the morning so got the dremel out and went to town...still need to get the strakes and other corners sanded..but got the big easy parts done today...

Still hoping someone can direct me on the cracks I found....also...the very top edge of the hull where the cap gets screwed on...do I need to worry too much about spider cracks there?

The hull sure did clean up good. Looks good. Glad to see you have a new camera. Couldn't go to long without seeing your pics. :D

From what I have seen I would grind out the cracks with your dremel tool and fill back in with PB. If you get into alot of delam I would gring down to glass and fill in like you did on the keel. It seams like the old filler and paint held up fairly well so I would think just use the PB.

Taking a break to refuel...went out this morning and the dew was still on the boat..so decided to start cleaning up the strakes...got the long one on the far side sanded down...getting ready to go out and do the short one...that one has all the fun...getting to sit on the hull...but at least it is under the shade...

I had good intentions when I started out this morning...make some PB and fill spots I had ground out yesterday...then sand the strakes..as I mentioned above, there was dew on the boat...so took the plan in reverse...that is when it back fired...I had been saying for days I was gonna work on the mower...again..I know...but different problem...that took about 4 hours counting an unnecessary trip to lowes...then mowing the front and side yards...the Mrs mowed the back...anyhow..I went back to snading and just finished the short strake on the far side...

I'll get the rest finished up this week...if we don't get hit by Isaac..I haven't been looking but the wife says it is going to head right at us...we'll see...

Heck if it does, I better get my burn pile burnt before it hits..Pecan trees are loaded this year...they will be dropping limbs like crazy!
Have a good week everyone!

These are several different types of "native" pecans..smaller than what you see in store..couple of the trees make some big ones...come on down, pick all you want....I'm sure I could send ya some too...have shipped them all over...

Hey brother,

Thank God Isaac blew by us like he wasn't really interested...BUT, batten down the hatches over in your neck of the woods...that sucker is piling up some ooomph and looks likes he's bee-lining towards you...Be safe...

We're just getting rain, lots of it. Better tie that boat down, Troop. Looks like it's headed your way. Be safe!
