Budd, ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ no prob man,,, you got that boat hooked up(u deserve the homage)

yep those are chris' lights, i went coastal:D. these are the doublesingle in blue,,,
since he makes them himself i bet switching colors is doable.

anyway i tested them before install(ok as soon as i got them lol) in the shop, all blacked out, it thru a 8in blue spot at 10ft.
my transom is somewhat leaning back(or out) so it throws the light down a little bit with both on, it made a large brightspot(in pics)
that suprised me some.(i was expecting 2 smaller spots)yay
anyway, i was playing with them for a few hours and was having trouble deciding how far to mount them apart because i saw a few boats with underwaters that were spread too far apart,,, it looked like headlights instead of the orb of light i wanted.
in any event it seems perfectly placed on dry land, hopefully it wont seperate too much on my dingy rivers
if it does they will be easy enough to move lol

Bananas, boats and fish do not go together, lil buggy, but I'll bet the fish and other boater will go BONKERS over those lights! I like how you have them placed. It should light up your wake nicely too. Way cool.

Re: 89 Fiesta Vee 250 setbacks, projects, and upgrades!

next job is to clean up the newly mated outdrive, the upper is all pitted and pinged up, the lower is just a little ruff around the edges

031812009.jpg

031812010.jpg

the lower isnt too bad, the red hue in the pic is the reflection of my shirt:facepalm: not primer showing thru

031812011.jpg

the plan is to sand it down to remove all the pitting then prime with krylon zink rich primer in rattlecan
then coat with krylon rust tough enamel in black
031812012.jpg

i spent about an hour sanding with 80 grit non orbital sander and its almost good (6"x6" midsection) shish lots to go
i'll post pics of progress when i give it up for the night

The lights look awesome! I want some now...lol
When i repainted my drive I used a dremel with a wire wheel on it, it worked great and got into all the nooks and crannies. Then finished off by hand with 80grit and she was ready for some primer.

A word of advice, LET THE PAINT DRY FOR SEVERAL DAYS/WEEKS BEFORE PUTTING HER IN THE WATER. Ask me how i know... I painted mine with rustoleum aluminum primer and paint in the rattlecan, it dried for about five days and I thought was cured. Put her in the water for the weekend and when i pulled her out, my newly painted drive was all "wrinkled". The paint didn't come off, it just wrinkled up over most of the drive! Grrrrrrrr

LET IT DRY. :)

Love the lights!

Might ask some other people, but some say not to use zinc primer on an outdrive because the outdrive is aluminum. Dissimilar metals?

thanks, i started a thread on this topic http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=537134&p=3674672#post3674672 so i dont make the wrong choice:facepalm:
zink chromate was suggested. but i had a heavy hitter tell me not to sand at all, which i realized after several hours of doing just that.
even tho i am discussing on both threads, my worry is that if i sand too far the case will be thin, and if i dont sand enough the electrolosis will have an easy target. note; when i bought the boat it didn't have an annode or most of the anti cavitation plate either aswell as the stainless cables weren't attatched to the outdrive from the gimball,
and for that matter, now that i'm using the old upper pinged outdrive as well as the gimbal ring(pinged also) i am a little worried:(
i am spending tonight searching instead of forward progress

thanks man,
yep even tho they are the cheapest of the underwaters i havn't heard anything bad about em, i had a lil insider info before i made my purchase 3 years and counting no issues, and with the cost 199beans ea i just had to have em:D he got the singles for 99beans in a few colors green blue n white.
thanks for the info on the paint, greatly appretiated:D
i will follow your advice and give it a few weeks before the dunking and was also planing on useing the dremel on the nilks n crannies.

thanks guys for not lettin me step in any more

i also got a can of the zink chromide primer. my mechanic is ready to reinstall my engine,,,sweet:D however he wants my drive back right away,,, so i dropped my sammich and got it done today,,,lol.

on a side note,
shoppin today, the admiral gave the nod for a few pricy purchases:D i was happy when i got that sander i was drollin over.
i always call her my enabler:facepalm:. the truth is i been watchin a set of fenders at west marine, 2 pack big dogs , anyway when she saw me lookin at em she asked if they were gonna go an sale, when the clerk said they were now, prolly as low as they would go.
the admiral said get em, all i said was we got 4 ss holders she said get 2 packs then and proceeded to the checkout. i didn't wana fork out the cash but with the approval:D whadami supposed to say,,, thanks. anyway i am excited,, we had like 5 smaller walleyworld ones
but raftin we had to be careful:eek: cause they were so skinny. upgrade wooo sweet. here they are
0320112014.jpg

when we got home i started sandin with the new toy, the wife jumped on the quad and ran the dogs around for a few hours.
gotta tell ya i've had a few quads for a bunch of years and always try to get her to go riden but it rarely happends. she has been sick for about a year and finally startin to feel better. even tho i had to get her done, lol, i did stop for a while to ride with her and the dogs.
beautifull weather and a great all around day. funny how some days are destined to be great even if (murphy) shows up.
great to see the wife super happy and besides that the dogs are beat,,lol sleeping peacefully for a few hours now

had to share a great day,
hope everyone gets a turn
