Got a '75 merc 65 on a 16ft. ebbtide with manual trim. Is it feasible to think about adding power trim and if so, what is involved in that process?
I used manual trim on a 40HP for 2 years and it was actually not difficult to change at all once I got the technique down, even from inside the boat. I'm not sure I would hold the same opinion with a much larger motor though.especially the ones with heavy shock dampers.
Cut the engine, lift it up by hand, and change the trim. It will have tilt locks to hold it up. If I was exposing my back to a lot of that, I'd make dam sure the tilt tube was working well! That's what I was curious about. I have a 65. Just wondering how you do it whilst in the boat.
