My daughter just got her license yesterday. She started driving late last winter. So she has a little time under her belt. Today she's driving our car to school which is about 14 miles away. Figure get her going now before the snow starts flying. My baby is growing up........

I got two (both girls) in the same range as you. It's creepy lettin' them go, isn't it? Just lettin' 'em run to the store is like watching them head off on hiking trip to the Yukon.

Yeah, I hear ya. Went out and defogged the windows and whatnot. Try to take all the precautions, but still, it's out of our control when they go down the road. I hate that! Just got a call, she's in the school parking lot. Phew!!!!! I can breath again!

Do not teach your child to drive. Let professional Driving Instructors do that. I did that with my three girls. . .no problems. :)

I think of myself as a competent driver. About a million miles without an accident (a lot of that on a racecourse). Taught my son myself. He totaled two cars before he was 18. :(

Yeah, what can I say...... She did start out driving my trade-in, '07 Dodge 3/4 ton quad cab on the back(gravel) roads last winter. That's what she cut her teeth with. I think now she is going to enjoy the wife's Charger a lot more.........

Let the wife do it. Less stress for you.. That's what I did after she started driving on pavement. My daughter said I made her too nervous...

She is taking a driver education course thru the school district. I am supplementing and giving her more time behind the wheel than the course offers. Lots of time getting comfortable in empty lots so she feels more confident in traffic. Baby steps for my baby. I would love to hand off the training to someone else totally, but my nature to control my kid's development is too strong to let go completely. This trait has it's positives and negatives, but leaves little doubt. Ain't easy letting' go.

You are gonna be in the dog house if she sees that!! Wimusky, I also have a daughter that just got her drivers license, so I know how ya feel. It was kind of bittersweet for her to get her license in a way. I have 3 daughters, and she is the youngest. So, in a way, we were happy for her, but in another way we were sad because we realized she was growing up.

That's the thing, she's our "only" child. I think that makes it even a little tougher.........

I have three teen drivers and a fleet of 4 cars. I have essentially lost all control.

With the oldest daughter I have become a skilled autobody technicial and junk yard shopper. I told her, you hit that front end again and the car will not be driveable and you will not have insurance. I just hope she doesn't start hitting the backend instead.

Good luck there WI, I have another 6-8 years to go before my kiddies drive...

That could just be the difference between boys and girls.... My sister and I both went through driving school in high school, the same course a year apart. She didn't get in any accidents but was 'ell on mechanical things, blown engine from ignoring lights. I did good with my first car, and never broke things like she did, I did total my 1st truck though. Jumping 1/2 buried culverts in a 72 Chevy PU is possible, and it will get airborne, just don't slow down for the last one by the stop sign... (stupid Dukes of Hazzard TV show)

LOL :D - not so worried about my girls, but I'm kinda' glad the boy hasn't seen that show yet.

What's Cosby's line? "... I'll make another one that looks just like ya'!" I think dads are just nervous letting their daughters outta' their care ... or at least they're supposed to be.

I know that feeling all to well. I raised three daughters. It wasn't to bad until the youngest wanted to use my truck on weekends. What made that bad was I had a 600 hp motor under the hood. I took her out to a big open parking lot and let her floor it a few times to get the feel of it, knowing full well it was going to happen any way so she may as well learn under controlled conditions. She did just fine.

We're baaaaaaad parents. On my wife's lunch break we drove to the school and snapped a pic. We're going to put it out on her facebook with the caption, "We're watching you!"..... We are bad........ Might as well have a little fun. I call it a stress reliever. Ironically, her bud ended up parking next to her...
