I too need a boat cover and I too live in Florida. my boat was out side unprotected all this year. Don't have a chunk of change to spend. Found some Vortex boat covers for $70-$80 incl free shipping with 12 months guarantee. What can you lose with that spend??
Even if they only last 12 months, you are still at less than $400 after 4 years.

I have a vortex cover. I thought it would be cheap junk when I bought it, but so far it's waterproofing and durability is great. No air vent though, so mildew is an issue.

I bought this cover on Amazon. Ordered Friday afternoon and should have it Monday (love Amazon Prime). Will let you nkow the quality. Thanks for input.

Sorry for the dealy. Amazon delivered on time but I was able to get the boat in the garage. Wasnt sure if I had the space. With Christmas etc, I put it on the back burner. Will be pulling the boat out tomorrow to do soem cleaning and will check the cover then and take pics and post.

I've got some dock line that runs from the bow cleat back through the inside of the PVC which rests on the windshield frame to the stern and then is tied to the outdrive tightly while the outdrive is up. I then lower the outdrive to make the line taut. This keeps the cover from pooling water in the bow. The PVC keeps the cover from pooling water elsewhere. I used foam pipe insulation to pad the windshield frame as well at the top of the PVC fittings in the stern so the cover doesn't rub against anything sharp when it's in place.

Jay, I don't know what your climate is down there but do you ever get heavy snow or Ice? The reason I ask is that the weight of the snow could break your windshield with the pipe just laying on the frame without any support. I've seen that happen up here a bunch. With the Ice (if you get it) without the drive all the way down you run the risk of water pooling in the drive and suffering freeze damage. Just my .02 cents...

We get up to an inch of snow every two years or so... no ice either. I actually have a outfeed stand from my woodshop supporting the center PVC pipe about half way down its length in the aft cockpit because the pipe droops over time without it. As for the outdrive, I have a contractor's bag wrapped around it to keep the water out and the outdrive is lowered as low as I can drop it without leaving the skeg in the dirt. I'd like to lower it more but the boat is parked with the outdrive slightly up hill. With the bow of the boat elevated to promote drainage, there's just so much room for the outdrive. It's probably down about 70% of its possible travel if the terrain weren't an issue.

Once upon a time my dad was stationed at Otis AFB there on Cape Cod (near Woods Hole) and I can remember the blizzard of 1959. I can assure you we get nothing like what you "enjoy". Today's (actually yesterday's now) water temperature was 71?... warmer than the air to be sure but tolerable for a short time without a wet suit.

Just making sure. Obviously you've got it well in hand. Sounds like you're golden. I live about 10 minutes from Otis and am waiting for 9-15 inches of snow tonight and tomorrow with wind chills below zero. NC is sounding like a mighty fine place to live right about now. Not that it ever didn't! :happy:
