well im off to Echo Bay for the weekend!!! gonna try the floatel thing and cruise around on the ol bayliner. anyone else going to be out there feel free to stop and say hi!

man wish i was going,but ill be working as usual on weekends.have a great trip and watch out for those bees!!! oh ya take some pict ok,would like to see water touch the lower campground again.And of course look for big one eye near dock(19lb striper with one eye visits there often) loves popcorn.ask around they know of him.

My oldest son (22) is on a Houseboat out of T-Bar this week. They found a good beach in Hualapai. Jealous . . .

My oldest son (22) is on a Houseboat out of T-Bar this week. They found a good beach in Hualapai. Jealous . . .

ahhhh...me too. That's a great beach there..and clean (should be anyhow) we adopted it in the adopt-a-cove program. Oh to be 22 again - and on a houseboat to boot!

I've never seen a beach there, been in the Cove a few times, but I think the last time was above 1180' and I don't recall any sand. I recommended he try it based on a post of yours. Thanks, they say it's perfect!!

This is the second trip that he and his friends have organized on their own. I'm pretty proud of him except the fact that I have created a costly addiction at an age where he should be camping . . .

I took the kids out to Echo this past weekend and I could have sworn the lake came up 6" while we were there, visited the same beach over 2 days and it looked higher.

Hey Red, have you used the new low water launch ramp at Echo yet? If so, is it lit up at night? I saw it while heading back in and told my son we need to try that one next time if it's still accessible, cut down on the 5-10 minute no-wake zone through the marina. How was the floatel? I was looking around for them as we went through the marina, but didn't see them. I take it that you can drive your boat right up and tie off to the back, that would be pretty nice.

Ya know I think it did! The elevation is usually pretty steady, but it has it's moments

You're right..at 1180 he would be on a rocky island with a very small beach, if any, on the backside making it hard to see if you're headed past it in the main channel, especially toward sandy point.
I'm glad it worked out good for him! Heck if I was out there I would give him ice too. We just bought a big 250lb capacity commercial machine since the bags there are now over $4/10lb bag!
Yea, that's some real $$ to fork out for kids his age.. good job DAD! haha. Really, you gotta be proud that he's got what it takes to put together an annual trip like that, and carrying on the tradition. Maybe he'll invite you next time!

I was kind of surprised. We were at the beach one afternoon and the kids stuck some sticks in the sand, then the next morning the sticks were in the water? The rock I set just at the waters edge to step in/out of the boat (so we didn't get sand all over the boat) was also deeper and it was dead calm in the morning. I'm used to seeing that at upper Mohave or on the river, but not at Mead.

Just got back from calville, beautiful night,caught some stripers,nothing special.My buddy Josh was trying to reel in a monsterfish for 20min but the line finally broke off.The fish was pulling the boat along,had to be huge.Then at the break of dawn the WON BASS TOURNEY boys pulled out of the marina,there were over 100 bass boats, it was so sweet.YES the water is coming up fast, when i woke up in the morning the boat had like 2feet of water in it LOL.They let the tourney guys use the new launch ramp,i had to walk the hill,ouch!Had a great time.

Plan on going out tonight. After getting blown around one night 4 years ago I decided that I would only chance nights that forecast 0-15 mph winds. Been very few of them this year and I had plans already. The forecast is 15-20 with no gusts tonight, I thinking okay in the coves. Anybody agree?

stayed in calville,just fishn for the big one.nice night,little windy, water was warm.once woke up wet at the campground at calville
lol we staked one of the sprinkler lines and so when it came on we had a waterbed.

lake mead can get nasty anywhere anytime!always be on the lookout!
