Re: Counting the days down to back on the water!

I'm ready!!!!
Got my new-to-me boat registered Friday when it felt like 60 deg.
Today I woke up to 10 inches of new snow!!!
It'll not get above freezing they're saying until about Friday.
First decent day willbe a floating day to play with loading /unloading and checking out the systems and making / planning changes and additions.
I'm ready,,, weather's not. :(
I'm sure launching & hauling would be "entertaining" with 10+" of drifted snow on a ramp.

At least it will be nice and quiet for ya at the ramp :D

We got 4-5? of snow Sunday night. The big concern on one of the local fishing boards was whether or not the boat ramps have been plowed. :D

Never ever occured to me that snow chains would be part of the whole boat launch procedure! All I know is SoCal and now SWFL..dang..

OMG... It seems like this has been a LONG winter.
Feels like I'm watching grass grow waiting for this cold snowy weather to go away finally. Another month and a half of it to go.... :(

I see I'm not the only one starting to count the days down to summer/boating season.

I can hardly wait. Literally.

Waiting it out, anxiously. Last weekend was 15* out with snow. This sunday it's gonna be knockin' on 70*! Prolly swing back down though. Today I ordered bellows, water pump, and zincs. Maybe next weekend if it's nice out I'll do the spring servicing adn be ready. A few more weeks. :) Gonna pick up a wakeboard too. Always been into kneeboarding and skiing but never tried wakeboarding. Should be fun. Come on summer!

Went ice fishing the other day. It was warm- got up to 35, maybe 38. Sunny too! Only 30 inches of ice this year, and the smelt were hitting, and although none of our tip-ups got a hit, it was a good day.

But I do HATE hard water.

Re: Counting the days down to back on the water!

It's even worse now!

My boat now has an '81 OMC trolling motor with about 15lbs thrust, it's horrible, BUT, upstairs in R&D there is a brand new MotorGuide W55 wireless troller that has been on the same shelf for 2-3 years.

I tried to trade the head R&D guy a Monte Christo cigar(THE Holy grail of cigars) for it but that didn't go far, so the other day I called a head office guy and offered to buy it for $200.

After some careful consideration they let me have it for..... $100!!!!

Its for a pontoon so I have to cut the shaft down but that is easy enough, it's 54'' and my current is 40''

It even comes with the key fob remote, I think they may have taken it out of the box to test fit on a boat but I took the prop out of a sealed bag and the box with the mounting plate hadn't been opened so it has never been used, new at Cabelas is $628.

I giggled all day, no more stupid cable steering, YEA!

The next problem is, my fishing buddy owns a body shop and I am helping him since my work is slow(3 days a week) and we are swamped, we have 5 cars that need to go, so I can't seem to find any time to work on the boat and it is suppose to be almost 60 today.

Oh well the water isn't going anywhere and when we finish the cars we will have money to fish with, come to think of it, my fish finders are a couple years old.....

Does Ice Fishing count? If it does, I was out on the water several times this winter.

Well thanks... Believe it or not, I actually ice fish more than boat or bank fish. It's just so much more peacefull to me. There is something about being able to walk on the lakes and sit in the cold that really puts me at ease. I take my girls out whenever I can but they don't like it as much as I do. Plus, I have yet to get bitten by any bugs in the winter.

Of course, if you fall in it's a whole different story.

'trouble with ice fishing is that it always scratches my hull when trolling ;)
