I've said it before..I don't know whats worse, having a solid good running boat that you cant use because its snowed in, or a boat not running in your driveway and its 80 degrees...My situation is the latter of course..

Went to the lake the other day for the first time this year after getting the boat out of hibernation for the winter. It was about 75 degrees that day......the next night it dropped to 29, so i had to drain the block when i got home........but it should be the last freeze here in texas i hope! gotta love the texas weather......and i don't reccommend anyone trying any watersports in 50 degree water either without a wet suit or dry suit, i did it wasn't cool

Hey Expidia, i have one of those Buddy heaters that use the 1lb bottles, you can buy a fitting for a grill tank and refill them when empty and they work great.

They are about $80 but worth it.

It was starting to get nice here and then we got this damn noreaster. It's currently 13 degrees. Supposed to be 52 on Saturday though! Couple weeks more and I think I'll pull the boat out. Nothing like that first time hearing the motor fire up for the season.

Well it's still cold here with lots of snow 1-3 ft depending on where you look and Ice too. It was -7 dg here this morning actual temperature. We have been below zero almost every morning for the past three weeks. They worry about Global warming....Ha! Ha! I think splash is quite a ways off yet. But that's the price we pay for living in paradise.... err I mean Northern Michigan. But better days are coming.

Pretty much boat year round. This year has been unusually windy. Got chased off the beach SAT. when the wind would not lay down. Tough ride home in a 16 footer. Unfortunate for those 4 guys out of CLEARWATER, think there were small craft warnings issued. Suprised that one was found alive, water is below 70 F. FRED

I was talking with my son the other day about this, it's been windy all year, not just march and april like usual. He discovered poling an 18' flats boat ain't alot of fun in a 15kt wind.

I used to live right off Las Olas by the bridge, it might make you feel better to know most of those boats along Las Olas are in rented slips, especially by the islands to the north thats all apartments and rented slips. Most of them you can see from the road are rented by brokers.

Sure it's yachting capital of the world so there are a lot of them but it's not that golden.

Beside aren't you glad you don't those bills.

Thanks for enlightening me on Las Olas Blvd. That makes sense that many of those slips are rentals. My BIL has a 46 foot Bertrum sportfisher and I remember when he used to rent a slip behind someone's house each year and he'd come down to use it for a month at a time during the Winter. He would move it over to Pier 66 when he was on the boat and rent one of their slips. It was pretty cool, because we had the use of the hotels facilities too!

Still, a drive along Las Olas is like being in boating Paradise!

Pretty smart marketing by the yacht brokers to have one of their boats for sale sitting in those settings.

CAPT SAM, If you remember awhile back, 2 brothers from BAMA came down to your neck of the woods to take a 32, twin YAMAHA back up the coast. Wind was blowing strong all week and I was concerned for them. They got lucky, they had a delayed departure and the wind layed down that afternoon. Later posted that they made it OK. FRED

I as well am counting down the days just to get my rig ready. Here in Northeast Ohio it was 50 last Friday and come Monday it was 2. days on the lake with the wife and kids are priceless. Just waiting on lazy days

ahh i see i am not the only one i live in indiana and here to it is cold and windy i am taking the 1710 to the shop to reseal the lower unit and have carb tuned up then as soon as weather permets me ill get the 2150 all ready looks like i have a lot of cleaning to do on both of them any takers lol. i can pay in beer lol.. yep i am counting days hours and minutes . its good to see others from INDIANA here.

Wow, going from 13 to 52 that has to be amazing. I think its bad when it goes from 40 to 65. A week and half. Then its show time.

Gettin' itchy trim fingers myself about this time of year. Would love to get the boat out of storage and start tinkering and tackling that list of to dos but there's probably more than a few feet of snow still drifting in the shed door...and that shed is 300 km north of where I'm sitting typing.

Yeah. I'm going through the same "weather hormones" here in central Kansas. I started painting my boat 2 weeks ago. Just the bottom, primer and following coats. 2 weeks ago. Because of the weather I still haven't finished just the bottom. One day last week it was 27 with a wind chill of 7 ! No snow.
2 snow falls this entire winter. Whats up with that ? Bought my first snow blower and used it once this season.

Today it was 49. Tomorrow up to 70 ! More painting tomorrow to be sure.

Sorry, Scout...the wife's relatives are in Brampton and let us know that is is going to snow for the next month.....and that they want to come down as soon as possible....so any more Canadians will have to wait their turn!!

Ya, weather's wierd around here too! Was 48 last week which cleaned up all the snow. Then this AM it was 8

Getting itching trim fingers . . . that's funny. I like that quote.

I also liked the guy who said it's getting close to "Splash Down". That's right on the money too.

Supposed to be 48 on Sat again. I'll probably give it another week or so and then pull the boat out from besides the garage and back onto the driveway once the ground firms up a little more.

Looking forward to bringing all the toys out of the basement again and plugging in everything back in place. Stereo, Drink hloders,Speakers, VHS, GPS, Drink Holders, Batteries, Bimini, Drink Holders

I've been clocking about 150 hours per season. Can't wait to turn that key again.

If I go a little too early I might catch up with some of those little iceberg chunks still floating down the Hudson River. Could do a tune on my lower unit and prop.

60 degrees is my hurdle. Cause once I'm on the water 60 drops to 50. Crank it up a little and it's pretty cold even with the enclosure.
Gotta hold back just a little longer.

Glad to see others are starting to get as antsy as I am to get back on the water!

I sh!t you not....it's currently 16 degrees according to my FireFox weather bar. It now says 54 for Friday and 62 for Saturday!!!!!!!

I had 5 below yesterday AM, and 1 degree F this AM. But last week it got up to 54 during the day and was 13 when I went to bed.

Welcome to Vermont; please pay the heating oil bill! If I didn't rent I would have a wood stove.
